They're childrens toys, so a toy company is putting out a general toyline where all the toys fit together stylistically (for the most part). It's so generic, that even when you add in movie toys, they won't look out of place, because they're all modeled after real people or at least made to look realistic.
Yes, toy makers have been modeling their toys after real people s ince at least the 80s. Almost every GI Joe ever made was someone's friend, coworker, wife, neighbor or some guy they saw eating a tuna sandwich at lunch.
Unfortunately, there aren't many DCC quality toys modeled after a comic's artist toys for Marvel characters. Mafex tries, but their efforts are more like they just modeled it after the storyline. It's more akin to DCC's Icons line, where the style is toned down to keep the figures looking generic enough that the line is cohesive when standing in a group.
But as i said, only Mafex's Gwenpool was perfectly made.
