I got the coronation star scream and hes good. Not as good as my mp's, but for a 25$ figure hes fun to pose against other figures as a What-If "TF were human sized" or What-if "action masters"

They're made out of a mushy PVC with the intention of preserving and being sharply sculpted, yet somehow the details are softer than mainline Transformers. On top of that the painted details are 90% of the time painted unusually sloppily. Bumblebee is as tall as Prime. There's no real coherence to the line.

This is obviously a troll thread, but they're just not made very well. I don't mind that they don't transform, but if they can't do what they're made to do (look like the best versions of these characters because they don't need to transform) then they're not really being done well. You don't see people saying that ThreeZero's BB and OP are bad because they can't transform. RED just isn't where it could or should be as a line of non transforming but highly articulated Transformers.

Also there's a difference between 'kibble' and parts of the robot mode design. If you took away the wings, the exhaust, the cockpit, and the other jet parts, this wouldn't even look like Starscream. Those are just parts of his design.

I can't even understand this anymore. The point was that because something is around that 5-7" size doesn't make it all 1/12. So calling a 6" TF a human sized robot makes no sense, because obviously it is in its own scale.

They are all unique sculpts and have decent blast effects.

I don't collect Hasbro products in any meaningful capacity outside of clearance for the most part. From the outside looking in GI Joe seems to be going strong, but slow. ML is more of the same, TF is just G1-ifying everything, LC is more of the same, and SW is just horrendous.

No? Gundam are a different scale than Transformers. Transformers are usually somewhere between 12-18 feet tall for regular guys depending on the series, while Gundam that are about the same size in toys are many times taller in the fiction. RED is non-scale.

I have this problem with Soundwave and Optimus, but I also have Megatron and Starscream and they're fine. If I even attempt to put my Soundwave in the post on OP's photo his arm swivels and flops away with the slightest movement. Starscream is impeccable though and really puts the rest to shame, I'm hoping he's the standard for the line going forward.

Megatron looks nothing like Red, since he's a tank.
Prime Arcee also didn't get a proper release since the show aired.
Same with knockout.
You could argue that some of their character choices don't make sense, but there's still several that don't have anything remotely like them in the proper transformers line

I've never handled a ML or one of these in my life, so I can't speak to the quality of the material, but that's just what figures cost these days. I'd expect the tradeaway being that these don't have hideous gaps on every single one of their limbs and other body parts as the transforming ones do. Less complexity, more density.
(Of course if the density is just of shit plastic then that's not that great.)

That really depends on the specific transforming one. Some of them are really good about not having big gaps, others give the impression the designer didn't give a fuck. ER Prime has no gaps to speak of, but the equivalent Megatron has a few.

The big issue I see with RED is that it fails to satisfy any niche it could have been for and does little to justify its cost compared to traditional Transformers. Most of them fail to be completely screen-accurate, so it can't appeal to the people that want something like that. They don't do the obvious thing and provide figures for non-transforming robots in the franchise. They don't scale with each other, which knocks out a good number of potential collectors. They aren't really any more articulated than the traditional figures. They don't come with a ton of accessories.The plastic looks and feels worse. It seems like every avenue the line could have taken to make itself appealing, it either declined or fucked up. All they end up being are figures that do a lot less than traditional Transformers but only cost a little less.

It's just ugly. I don't have a problem with non-transforming Transformers. I own Action Masters, Revoltechs, Flame Toys, etc. My real issue is that the sculpts and paint are hideous, the proportions are wack, and the articulation isn't near good enough to justify axing the transformation.

I mean shit, articulation in the normal Transformers line has gotten so good, you really need to blow me away if you're nixing the transformation. If you don't, I'm just left sitting here wondering where all the money that usually goes to engineering the transformation is going (hint: into Hasbro's pockets, with nothing provided to fill that void).

Bumblebee & Starscream are the good ones for not looking like Sunbow model sheets.Prime Arcee is a bit pointless. Optimus Primal is extremely pointless AND even has the gappy elbows that were on the transforming toys.

But even so RED is barely on par with their other lines. Overwatch was much better.

I bought 2 of the RED line: Megatron and Soundwave—mainly because I couldn’t find 1st or 3rd party transforming toys that I liked well enough. They’re both OK, but not great. Where I think they fail is in the use of Marvel Legends-standard articulation. There is zero innovation in them, even though there is plenty of room for it, and that’s what leads them to have gappy or oddly designed joints, pins where there’s no reason to have pins…things that make it obvious that the transforming toys are much better action figures.

I collect transformers as interesting puzzle toys, not as action figures. Whats the point? I have no interest in the characters, only interested in seeing new and interesting techniques used in turning a car into a robot.
