They havent. Its never released coloured. This prototype never hit shelves. You could buy gray versions of it to paint your own chapter. Closest we got is an Ultramarine Lieutenant.

As for why not...no fucking idea. Its the single most recognizable 40k design and basically the mascot of the universe, so it is baffling.

Todd hasn't worked or had to work in years. He shoveled all the art, writing & sculpting duties off to interns & contractors a long time ago. He just sits back & thinks his mere existence still matters because he used to have a name. He's like those Kitchen Nightmares cooks who got good reviews once yet think they garbage they cook now is still top-tier. He's also trying to suck up to the "based" crowd now because they blindly shovel cash at like-minded people to "trigger the left", yet he's got all these, ahem, "woke" licenses he's stuck with that he can't get out of until the contracts expire.

He'll either get COVID, get #metoo exposed or off himself with an overdose of narcotics eventually, the only people who will care are the bigots he's pandering to while everyone else will be "Oh... he died? I didn't know he was even still alive".

I have no idea why they never released this. They could basically repaint it with every new line in different colors and it would sell gangbusters. Are they just waiting for interest in the line to die out so they can release this to rekindle it?

Considering that the typical Primaris shares 90% of the parts, they probably already have. Plus I'd reckon McFarlane thinks most people who would buy the marines have an interest in painting their and customizing their own, so it releasing variants with different crests, weapons and add ons is a way to incentivize sales.
