Mezco has to get the licenses so they can legally make the figure and use its name. Even if their figure is different from the source material, they still have to get permission from the company to make the product.

Also, toy companies used to make their own takes on characters all the time. Look at all the old Kenner Batman toys, or Toy Biz various marvel lines. Different takes on a figure may not be your thing, but we got some really amazing designs and figures because of stuff like that.

I don’t even understand why you’re bringing this up with Doom specifically. He looks spot on to what he should.

This probably varies a lot where you work and what type of job you have. I'll admit I've never worked at a Target or Walmart type place, though I have worked many other minimum wage jobs. Pretty much all of mine were the type where you had to be constantly busting ass, would be penalized for using your phone, etc. so I'm used to working hard from clock in to clock out.

God help me I preordered mezco doom. It’s way overpriced and they shoved in that giant contraption to justify the price. Would have rather has just the doom and the boss effects at 50$ cheaper.

Only time I've had actual help from a worker was Target. I wanted the Phoebe and ghost Egon two pack. Girl said try calling back later since they hadn't unpacked yet. When I called later she said they had them but couldn't hold any. Went up and when I got there she said the manager said to hold it for me. Either a nice guy or a GB fan too I guess. People at my Walmart give no fucks and when they say they're going to check things you can tell they're not or just looking aimlessly at nothing.

I've worked a decent variety, never target or Walmart but jobs where you think you would be expected to bust your ass like Starbucks or other restaurants where there's constant activities have seen me run into those types of people. I remember being annoyed at this one person specifically cause they would ask for the expediter position where you put the food on the tray and then sit on their phone letting orders pile up which backed up everyone. Only target like store I worked was rite aid but I imagine it's similar where the amount of down time and unsupervised time you end up with let's these people flourish. Of course I'm generalizing though and people like that are probably the minority but probably by a somewhat slight margin.

I would expect a higher caliber worker from target, at least in NYC they pay above minimum wage so they probably get to be a bit more picky with candidates. Then again I swear I read Walmart pays above minimum as well now but they did have the reputation of paying minimum and telling their workers to get on welfare for the longest time.

I liked it because it felt like a tasteful send off to the main brains behind the originals. For a franchise like GB having him show up as a ghost makes sense. Since he didn't talk and had like 30 seconds total of screen time I was fine with it. If it had been overdone I'd have hated it but for the universe, context, and keeping him silent it was done ok I thought. What you're suggesting is going overboard though.

How do I get this guy's feet to stay in his glider? They just refuse to hold at all. I'm guessing this is because they reused this glider mold from the old Hobgoblin, who had hooked shoes that could hold onto the straps.

Oh, I was fine with it, I'm not one of the people complaining. I thought it was relatively respectful, and I think Ramis would have wanted to be a part of this, especially since he returned to contribute to many GB projects in the years before his death. It was a pretty nice sendoff in my opinion.

I am being serious about the music though. I think that's a thing that's gonna happen. The precedent was already set years ago when they had that virtual Pac appear at Coachella, and this is only getting normalized with these types of "respectful" dead celebrity cameos. As they become more ho-hum and normal and boring, the respect will start to slip, and we'll end up with obscene digital mockeries of their lives. It's coming.

Yeah not a fan of that becoming a thing. With Egon it also had heavy input from his family. It's not just oh you're a GB fan so whatever they do you'll eat up. I mean, 2016 was a dumpster fire. There's context with Egons appearance that makes it ok to me. Though complaining about figures of dead actors is silly. I wouldn't toss my pre-Ramis death figures because he died. Nobody would stop from buying a Vader figure because the man in the suit passed away. They made a What If T'Chala Starlord. You could argue it's poor taste to sell such things but fans want their favorite characters if they collect. Even more so if they pass away.

I use blue tack and it's never left a residue. It's ripped off the paint though. Entire chunk came off.

Currently have two speaks being supported by blue back on some stands, a router stuck to a wall, a cable modem stuck against a wall, a bookcase temporarily being held in place by blue tack (holy shit is that nerve racking when people come over and push it), a robin hanging upside down with a little blue tack, a few figures with alt heads that don't fit without the blue tack, some headphones on a merc using blue tack to hold it tightly, and who knows what else.

Also have black tack, which is a tackier version, that is holding another set of speakers in place. Probably other shit too.

White tack is shit, but it's "dryer" than blue and black tack, so it may be safer. There's also some museum quality gray tack that you might want to use, since you sound paranoid.

oh, and just to clarify since you're paranoid, the blue tack ripped off a chunk of paint from the wall. I pulled a frame i had hanging from a wall and it pulled off the paint right down to the drywall.

Never had an issue with plastic.

Worst thing that's ever happened is my modem getting too warm on a hot day and the tack turning gooey, sliding down where it was placed and eventually just hanging from its cords.

It wont happen its not the design that was used in the recent movie.

If they plan to re-release it its probably gonna be a whole new sculpt from the first movie. Seems the most logical move its what they did with the Lizard recently when everyone assumed it was going to be the BAF.

Retail exclusives usually are a sign that the line is doing well enough for retailers to care about such things.
And individual releases not tied to a wave pretty much confirm that ML is in a very good condition.

The windowless boxes aren't about what anyone seems to think.

I have seen dial soap refill containers that say they are made out of "100% recycled plastic". So if this was really just about 'green' packaging they could just use 100% recycled plastic for the windows on the boxes.

It's not about being green at all, its about saving a few cents and figures with bad QC not being as easy to clear off the pegs if customers can see them. This allows hiding QC issues so they can slack off on QC and people have to take it, because there's an extra disincentive barrier of effort required to take something back to the store. The QC issue would have to be bad to justify the trouble, whereas the customers can just examine it ahead of time with window boxes.

I appreciate the effort that went into all of this, but the finished figure kinda looks like crap. The headsculpt is kinda soft and amateurish looking, it has a weird expression on, and the shine of the paint makes it look even cheaper. I am reminded once again that the Animated glider was actually sorta ugly. And the cape is somehow...just not as exciting as I'd hope a cloth cape would be.

There's also the issue of whether the peg for the arms will fit correctly for the same reason as stated earlier. Also, whether the skin tone matches. I kitbashed a Hercules gripping hand to give to Thor for Stormbreaker, since the tone was close enough.

The head sculpt is probably the biggest reason as to why the kitbashed figure looks so off. I'm one of the few that thinks the head sculpt looks pretty decent and not too far off aside from the gnarly eyebrows and the dot in the eyes. But that's something I'm willing to forgive. The new sculpt also seems way too big.

I'd argue the wired cape is also a downgrade because of the weird hot pink inner layer. There are some frames of the animated series where Hobgoblin is featured with pink inner layer, and others where he features the orange within the shadows.

This is one example of where being too literal of a translation, ends up making for a worse figure. Something nerds should take to heart more often than they're willing to admit.

Not sure what the problem is. The Mafex Iron Spider is way better looking due to the fact that the legs and “diaper” looks consistent among each other. No odd pieces like g strings in the SHF. Bitching about the diaper on the Mafex while ignoring the flaws with the SHF groin is silly.

Not to mention, the spider arms/Waldoes are objectively terrible in the SHF than in the Mafex.

This was creepy and felt off. With Egon it at least felt like a sendoff and goodbye. Less bringing Ramis back and more farewell Egon. That's not how it works. If you kick in poofy pants, your glutes are still gonna be 1:1 fit with the fabric. I don't usually see it drape on the ass like that unless you have a Hank Hill ass or the pants are way beyond poofy and just poorly shaped instead, which is why the SHF makes it look like you're crapping your pants. Sure you can hide it, but the hip/crotch for SHF isn't better than the same complaint you have for Mafex figures.

I went to two different Targets and this was actually the case at one of them. They just had spots for the kids line figures and the 5 PoA stuff. Now both Targets did have clearance sections literally full of AoA and Eternals figs, the Eternals marked down to 70% off. So I don't think it's them not carrying Legends, it's more of them not carrying Legends until they can liquidate their current overflow of literal shit. It has been looking like they've been moving slowly out of my Target the past several months. They don't have nearly as many as they once did.

The video the guy is referring to is a spectre creative video and because of the way the guy coyly doesn't point out who the video is by makes me suspect it's probably Scott himself, since he comes here, shilling his incredibly click-baity video. There's a bunch of options but I'm honestly struggling to think of anything that has the appeal of Galactus or the Sentinel. I don't know if you could get a lot of people to pay $300+ for a Fantasticar.

I think a Blackbird would have big enough recognition, but an actual scale SR-71 would be ridiculously huge. The only way it would work is if they fudged the scaled and scrunched it up, but then it would look awkward. Not quite as bad is picel but you get the idea.

Do you think playsets might be a possibility? Like a 13x13x13 room that fits inside dewolfs and kallaxes? Picrel is my WIP hall of armors made from Nova's tech diorama display. If we can get a Danger Room, or Baxter Building lab, or Daily Bugle rooftop, I think people would be all over that.

Giant Man seems like maybe the obvious one. Stuff like a celestial, or Fin Fang Foom, or ITSV Green Goblin, probably doesn’t have enough of an audience for the price tag.
A quinjet or Blackbird is probably too expensive to make. Fantasticar seems feasible, ideally for less than $500 but with their recent costs, idk.

Yeah but this is a shitty transformer that do not look good either in robot or jet mode. If at least the jet had bigger wings and a more accurate comic design I would buy it. Also could be compatible with that 3.75" figure line.

Yes, they'll make a new wave for Wakanda forever with new niggers no one will give a fuck about, the first movie the nigress with the lance was actually likable along BP, i liked shuri and BP love interest, km too was pretty cool too and i liked the nigress with the lance partner (the one that accompanied her on the car chase scene) couldn't give a single fuck about the Niger with the lance but if they introduce new niggers, i doubt they'll be likable at all.
But to answer your question yes, companies will do anything to sell, they'll release a new wave even if it's the exact same characters again, but you'll buy them again cause they'll make the mold different, etc. Or in the worst case scenario it'll be just a recolor
