The wrists are the only modern style joint with hinge and swivel.
Swivel Head.
Hinge knees.
Hinge elbows.
The shoulders and hips are held on with bungy cord tension, so precise possibility isn't always possible, but they do sort of have a snap punch and kick action. Plus you can dislocate the limb for a wider range of movement.
The soft goods quality is OK; not horrid, but not great either.
I'd say they would hold up to actual kid play about the same as a Barbie or other around $20 action figure.
I'd rather have a 6 inch style Hasbro, Neca, or Jap import over a Mego; but if there's a character you like that won't get made, or you don't want to blow $30+ on something they're OK.
The retro style complements old horror and sci-fi characters well.
