One thing I like about smaller companies like Todd's is that they can actually be nimble enough to jump at fan suggestion. It feels like they are responding to fan feedback with stuff like the more sculpted ankles of the newer figures and the weapons pack. Fan feedback actually counts for something with them. Meanwhile people could scream endlessly at Hasbro to use recycled plastic in the packaging instead of removing plastic entirely and nothing would come of it.

I was wondering what people here think of marvel legends, i have two, and i like them (comic baron zemo, and dr doom), but i find most of them so cheap and they cant even sit up right without some sort of stand, that doesn't come in the package. also two of the figures i really like, xenmu and warlock, are BAFs, and the figures containing their pieces are mostly crap. Normally the MCU figures are made from concept art images so they can be made on time when they movie comes out. NWH didn't get figures because they desperately tried to keep Tobey and Andrew a secret so that meant figure companies couldn't get started. Which is why it'll be next year before we see figures.

They're generally a good bargain for the price, and their tech is evolving.
Your options in terms of alternatives are Marvel Selects (often better sculpts but some of them are old + poor artiulation) and imports which are the best, but more expensive.
In that price range though, I don't think there's any better option.

I mean it more in terms of the people who get to decide which mold and look is made.
Look at Martian Manhunter for example. It took McFarlane forever to start coming out with Classic looks. And it's not like I'm biased either, I actually like a lot of the alt. stuff they've made.
But the fans seem to demand some of the more orthodox looks first and foremost.
In terms of pricing, and like I said scale, I prefer McFarlane.

I was talking more about their classic lines. For example the Spider-Man TAS line.

But anon, Hasbro is also a large corpo and their product wouldn't be the same as this toy somebody dreamed up.
As far as I'm concerned, Hasbro's strong side is variety (in characters and looks, not sculpts), and maybe scale if I'm being generous. Personally I prefer the 7 inch as they just look more grandiose.
Marvel also has more characters than DC which are popular, and more room to play with from a business perspective. Practically every other character is a moneymaker on it's own.
Whereas normies don't care as much about the DC characters who aren't the big 3, or the core JL at best.
And with all of that in mind, the fact that they've still sold well means that McFarlane Toys have done something right, at some point along the way.

I like them too. My only major complaint aside from the 25% that you mentioned is the actual characters (and versions of them) that get to be made.
They could benefit from some variety, and from what I've seen that's basically the consensus on McFarlane. In terms of tech, I don't mind them. In terms of scale, I honestly prefer them.
Hasbro also has it's strengths but I'd say they're inherently strengths in the realm of action figures that you play with, as opposed to collectibles meant for decoration, if that makes sense.

Articulation is the least important aspect of a toy for me, so I wouldn't be opposed to that.
I think McF should've probably stuck to their roots and continued making the same figures, because there would've unironically been some pretty interesting looking toys that you wouldn't get anywhere else.
But it's understandable why they gave in to the demands of collectors. I do think McF's core audience does want the traditional figures to return.

I don't think most people here realize what McFarlane's real roots are. They were a toy company first, and only became a statue heavy company later when that proved lucrative for a time.

This was sold in the toy aisle in 1994 and has the level of articulation that toys in 1994 had, besides G.I. Joe and a few others which had slightly more.

Todd used to do it with the cards but then stopped because everyone kept pointing out the figures were inaccurate. Now it's just pictures of the figure because he knows the people who buy his toys don't know the source :)
