Sadly there wasn't a lot of product in my area, and I only had Chewie and Vader from wave 1, Bespin Luke, pilot Luke, Yoda, and Boba Fett, Jawas, Lando, Slave Leia, Bespin Han, Hoth Han, and an IG-88/Boba 2 pack. I also had a Slave 1 and X-wing. It wasn't til the prequels came out that enough product was on shelves to actually find anything.
Years later I found out it was because of scalpers. There was a comic/gaming shop I visited recently and he had all these old toys from the 90s to early 2000s, mostly POTF2, McFarlane Toys, and Playmates stuff that I never saw in retail growin up. He occasionally would talk about how he had a whole storage unit full of old toys he hoarded.
