Oh shit, a Kotobukiya HMM Liger Zero. I've been lurking /toy/a few weeks to see if one of these would crop up.

I'm old enough to remember watching Zoids: New Century after school, right before G Gundam, and just recently discovered Zoids custom paint jobs. This shit seems daunting as all hell, but I'm no stranger to DIY/custom projects; I don't even care that the Liger or Berserk Fuhrer models are around $160. I'm going to do my first Kotobukiya/HMM Zoids custom before this year is up.

Going back to lurking, so post 'em if ya got 'em.

are you painting by hand? you probably didn't thin your paint enough and layered it on too thick. you need to do many thin light coats if you're handpainting and the brush should be barely touching the piece. also don't keep brushing a part until the paint is dry, moving the paint around while it's drying will leave awful brush strokes, do a couple of strokes then leave it alone for a few minutes.
if you're airbrushing you probably thinned the paint too much and sprayed it on too thick

Hello newfag. 4chan deletes exif data and causes mobile phone images to turn to horizontal from vertical. Have to edit the pic and rotate it. Then go back and rotate it again and save it. Helps to crop out stuff too. Sometimes even that doesnt help.

I suggest the EG Nu Gundam as a starter kit for absolutely anyone. Easy to build as an Entry Grade should be, but very nice and has ok color separation and articulation and is a "real" Gundam kit instead of babby's first model.

Speaking of P Bandai, do they ever do reruns? After building an MG Blaze Zaku Phantom which I got roughly for 75 USD converted from my local currency, I was thinking of getting the Slash Zaku Phantom which cost around 80USD from local resellers. Can't really see myself dropping that much on a kit so I thought maybe P Bandai does reruns and I'll just probably wait.

I’ve worked with plastic kits before and I’m a big anime fan but I’ve never built nor watched gundam except on toonami in middle school.
Read the guide, so helpful. Thank you for keeping it up. It would be helpful to have the beginner guide break down the different kinds of mechs that exist in the gundam universe. it's a really good sculpt, only has five small seam lines, very little sanding required due to thoughtful gate placement, doesn't have the exposed tiny neck joints of the origin, makes extensive use of monocoque armor.

I've built 1 MG, Heavy Arms, and 2 HGs, Wing Zero and Leo. Working on my second MG, Sandrock. The first MG I didn't have any paint or panel liner nor did I have a knife for nubbing. Practiced on the two HGs and now it's slower but fuck does just a little panel liner make this Sandrock pop more than the Heavy Arms I did.

I'm not involved in this discussion and don't feel like reading all of it, I just dropped in to say that F2 is probably one of my favorite FEELING kits. It just feels utterly rock-solid and stable, it's one of my favorites to actually pick up and feel and manipulate, it just feels so good. HOWEVER, the joint range is garbo for the most part.

Origin blows it out of the water engineering and articulation-wise. It just doesn't feel as nice to work with IMO

nah, the chest doesn't fit together properly in mobile suit mode. the white parts on the abdomen do not properly align, there's giant holes on the sides of the chest and the blue part does not seat properly so the neck is sunken into the torso.

Less stress marks. Less risk of cutting yourself. Good lifespan when compared to sand papers,sponges etc. Much better fit with parts. Can easily file a bit of the pegs to make seam line sealing fit tighter. Not essential but a great tool to have in your tool box.

The thing I learned today:
When you want to change the color slightly, instead of mixing a custom base color that will be hard to reproduce (because of the small % involved), you can coat your base color with a dilute transparent coat of another simple color and get the result you want.
I believe fa/tg/uys call the hand brush version of this method "glazing".

buy whatever action base that fits your needs. 4 is typically used for multiple kits on one base or effects pieces.
action base 5 is typically used for just displaying a single kit while only using up a small display footprint.

other than that though, action bases are never required to complete a kit if thats what youre asking.
if a kit has some sort of effect piece gimmick, it will come with a stand.
like the RG nu gundam with funnels. that comes with the stand in the box.

The gimmick of the movie is both 0079 nostalgia baiting and capitalizing on the legendary notoriety of the episode that was so bad the creator had it pulled.

Yeah, I lied to myself for a while, but I really doubt they're gonna be separated too. I dunno why though, Bandai is at a stage of engineering and injection molding magic where I do believe they could produce this as a dual injection piece, or at the very least engineer some very clever interlocking pieces to achieve this. I'm tired of the divide in thinking between something like RGs (where new innovations are the order of the day) and HGs (where tech seems to move in inconsistent spurts, and sometimes even go backwards), I want to see more effort put in across the board on HGs too, dang it.

Is there China release P-Bandai? Bought this from a local reseller and it came with that Chinese instruction leaflet. The manual is in Japanese/English though and judging from the finished build and from what I felt while building it, it isn't a bootleg, if there is a bootleg P-Bandai kit at all.
