What is your favorite Mcdonald's toy? For me are the figures from the Disney Movie Hercules, I know they are shit but there is something really nostalgic about them and remind me of happier times.

In the 90s when McDonalds sold toys that were on par in quality with something you would have bought at Toys R Us or KB Toys.

High quality PVC figures, painted nicely, some with articulation some with vehicles that you can remove the figures.

Now you get a hollow bootleg low quality ABS plastic figure that is one mold with no moving parts and maybe 2 paint apps ready for the landfill.

Those McDonalds toys of the 90s today would be carded and sold for $5.99 at Walmart/Target today, they were that good.

But back than? 99 cents or in some cases free with your Happy Meal

I think the Monsters Inc one was a really solid, high quality figure line for the movie. The Disney movies of the early 2000s always had such great figures that are on par with retail stuff today. Incredibles, Treasure Planet, Lilo and Stitch, Brother Bear, He-Man stick out to me as high quality. I think the He-Man ones even had action features and accessories. I remember there being some good Transformers ones around that era. Also those Disney ones with the gold round bases. They had ones that had VHS tape bases too with wheels and you could connect them like a big train.

It's why in the early 2000s you even had bangers like Hercules, He-Man, Beast Machines and Marvel.

Some of them were pretty stiff but for example the pic related was a 7poa figure with snow scooter, skis and poles, and the other is 5poa with a sizable vehicle. That's pretty solid for a freebie toy

Yeah there are different toys that do the balancing act (and those little birds that were the same thing) I think the Tick is pretty much the best because bobbling around on his chin seems like something he might actually do, and where some balancers get comically huge fists for counter-weights, Tick is holding chunks of wall, which fit the cutouts in the base like puzzle pieces.

I worked at McDonalds back in 2001-2002. This was Rhode Island, we had decent traffic and would get a box of 400 toys each week and normally would move about 75% of it, we would keep some in case the Week 2 toys sell out but when the whole promo is done, we dump it, no joke.

And when you think about it, if my sleepy town had 400 toys a week, that's 1200 toys a month.

And there is over 14,000 McDonalds in the USA alone. That's over 16800000 toys a month for a single promotion. And again that's just the USA

It's fucking crazy

The ones that combine into one big thing were always cool. I never even came close to collecting each one for any of them though, since going to McDonald's was a rare treat and not something my parents would do every week. But at least I'm not fat.

And here's an even better example. The little robot from Spy Kids 2 was pretty much the coolest thing ever. I think I had one friend who had all the parts to build the robot, but I only had the watch and I think the notepad. I remember getting in trouble in like first grade bc I brought the watch to school bc it was considered a toy.
