Pretty much this. I switched to DHL when EMS wasn't a thing anymore, and now have no urge to switch back. The price is generally only a couple dollars more at worst, and I get my package in half the time.

I basically started doing this since /toy/ started bitching about Japanese imports. So years now?
With the shit going down in Ukraine, it's affected the types of tools i've been buying these past few months now. SOME places are still selling, but fuck if i know they'll still be alive or have their postal office getting bombed tomorrow.

You save some money going domestic, but get absolutely fucked in terms of actual shipping times. BBTS is taking like six months after expected release date to unload stock and most other retailers are about the same. Additionally, assuming you are US based, the general increase in gas prices is going to fuck shipping prices to the point where BBTS either needs to get rid of the $4 shipping or all their product are going to be marked up even further.

I bought a Figma from BBTS and yep, felt like an entire year passed before i got it.

Pretty fucking crazy, but I'm not all that in a hurry with imports.
Same shit with Chinese crap, like JoyToy's Warhammer line. I only buy from smalljoes now, because i started testing some cheapo Chinese toys to see how long it would take, and some something still hasnt gotten to me two months later. Only spent $5, so it's not a big bummer if it gets to me 5 months from now or never.
