When you're working with them make sure they stay this color otherwise you're in for a bad time. The black one is the only that doesn't really have the issue, all the other colors require a lot of shaking.

Don't think I'll order from USA Gundam store again. Ordered a single, in stock kit on 5/17. It didn't ship until 5/23, expected date of delivery, 5/26. Little peeved about the long fulfillment time for a seller state side. Then the delivery gets updated to 5/27, then 5/28, then 5/31. It's still 3 states away and I'm sure I won't see it until 6/3 at the earliest. I could have biked to Florida in two weeks to get it.

Got ya, the runners on this kit say 2012, the box says 2013. Was curious as the kit I just put together was 2019 and the plastic was super soft compared to some of the early 2010s kits I've put together.

I'm pretty sure the plastic used for a certain kit will be the same for any later prints of that kit so it just comes down to bandai improving their plastic mixtures for newer kits. The grey they use for the inner frames on modern MGs is super easy to remove nub marks with just a hobby knife and your nail for instance

Honestly that wouldn't bother me. They told you upfront about the issues. USAGS didn't. I got a "we received your order" email, then nothing until a "it's coming" email. And that email didn't give any indication how it was shipped. Three days later it finally got FedEx tracking. And it's been delayed 5 times since. Just an overall terrible experience. Had their first email said "we are backed up, you'll get in within 3 weeks, if not, contact us" I wouldn't be so grumpy.

What kind of service would that be? Buying kits at a higher price, building them, and selling them for way less? Doesn't make sense. My local hobby shop has built kits in plastic bags that they buy from customers and resell, but that's definitely not a service and only a fraction of their actual business. I also see them sell pretty cheaply on OfferUp, but that's just private sellers rather than a service.

I think your best bet is ebay. I've bought some super cheap pre built kits from there for scrap parts. Really though it sounds like you want to go to fiverr or etsy and pay someone to build a kit for you so you can paint it.

not that anon, but there's a market for this. usually the sellers are people who built their gunpla and moving but don't want to bring their gunpla to the new place, people who are cleaning out their homes, people who may want to dump their collection to buy new gundam, people who arent satisfied with their builds.

mostly these 2nd hand gundams sell for 1/2 to 3/4ths of their original price

I keep seeing this meme, but I don't think it memes what you think it memes.

Multi-color injection is only relevant for multi-colored kits with a lot of parts. Most military kits even if they use multiple colors (Fujimi snapfit ships) have very few colors and very few non-gray parts.
Pre-molded joints are only relevant for jointshit, which most military kits are not.
On the other hand companies like Tamiya and FineMolds improved the level of detail in their molds over the years to the point way beyond Bandai, yet no one says that Bandai has shit detail. That's because Bandai subjects don't have intricate surface detail to begin with.

TL;DR different subjects = different needs, improvements that make sense for one do not necessarily make sense for the other.

Build to test fit and get a general idea of the build infront of you. I love to paint by hand using Vallejo Acrylics. Its not for everybody, but every builder should at least try out small color swaps as I find it pretty nice when a little change to the kit gives it a kind of new but basiccustom look to it

all this conjecture is fine, but without specific historical sales data on what actually has sold at volume, it's all headcanon. Bandai has definitely made moves I find questionable, but I can't see inside their actual sales data and manufacturing costs. I wouldn't be surprised if what I thought was selling well based on my own tastes and preferences in fact was shelfwarming in their primary markets (overseas sales are barely relevant).
Dragonar is still a niche mecha in the grand scheme of things (only one series, came out decades ago so not too many younger (20s and under) people are going to buy it).
they're running a company, not an appease the greasiest of greasy foreign neckbeards service.

ive seen painting videos of people painting the individual pieces first and then putting them together. i get it will probably net you a cleaner paint job that way but i cant get myself to do that.
painting by hand is fine. its just that people dont know how to properly thin their pants so their paint jobs always look terrible in the end.

I was collecting all the theme decks, right up until they stopped making theme decks and theme deck tournaments. I think using theme decks is more fun than pure meta build decks because then its more like chess, trying to figure your opponent out, rather than just dropping GXs or EXs, or whatever they're onto now, and seeing who can build up their energy the fastest.

So far these are the only three I've built. Heavy Arms was first, so I gotta go back and touch him up and actually panel line. Sandrock was next and I just wrapped up Double X last weekend. I gave up on posing since I'll be taking them down to top coat one of these days.

This was the last thing I posted, anyone commenting on my three kits after that aren't me. >>9823932 to address you. Sure maybe it's lazy of me to not pose them since they are still being worked. I felt my energy and time was better spent on practicing my building, panel lining, painting and top coating by building other kits. Adding on to the older kits as I get better at each step. The Heavyarms was my first kit, so it has nubs galore, Sandrock was the second kit, considerably less nubs and I panel lined as I built. Double X was something I just finished last weekend, I did some minor paint instead of stickers as well as more detailed panel lining. This weekend was the plan to go back to the Heavy Arms after I tested some paint on it last weekend. Once they are finished, I'll pose them and put them in an actual display case. Until then, I got them on stands as it's easier to make sure they don't get damaged and I like looking at them. I do agree though with you and >>9823918, both knee jerk reactors and minute detail shit posters are fucking with this place, even in the last 2 months that I've been frequenting here.

the good thing though is it looks like you did minimal damage. nubs can always be corrected later if that's effort you feel like putting in. gouges as well, but that takes more steps. the fact you know what you want to improve and have drive to improve (even if a gradual process) sets you ahead of at least a third of the posters in the thread.

Luckily I didn't gouge too many exterior peices. With Heavyarms all I had was the nippers, by the time I got to Sandrock I bought better nippers, a knife and sanding sticks. Part of me wants to try seam sealing/welding but I think that's a future thing.

Which ones in particular? The kotobukiya mechanical chain bases need some glue to be sturdy. The 30mm truss bases are ok. More modular but a single box builds a hangar but it barely fits a hg zaku. Dom and gelgoog are a bit too large to fit. Im sure there are other ways to build these to give more elbow room for the kits.

I don't know, I was looking for some options, but any kind that is cheap so I can buy a lot of them, with enough space for some suits that have large wings and stuff, but also made to stack so I can use them as the display shelf, and just sturdy enough that the suits don't all fall over, or even have support arms to hold the suits, maybe via the peg hole in the grundle.

My collection just sits on a book shelf, and its fine, but sometimes they randomly face plant, or tumble clean off the shelf. Plus a back drop with lots of greeblies would look better.

I just did a head count, and l currently have 26 144th suits built, and thats not counting the backlog of kits l have yet to open. if you think of an axis travelling in the direction the top spike is pointing, it needs to rotate 180 degrees along that axis so A matches with A and B with B. the shorter length side of the shoulder armor should face inwards to the torso and the longer one should meet the forearm.

Believe this is what I bought. You get a decent eclipse clone and a good tank and compressor. So if the airbrush shits out you still have a decent tank and compressor. I don't recall which one I bought.

The market is small for garage kit commissions and practically nonexistent for gunpla. People who care about them want to build them, that's the whole draw. ProconBoy is a poor man's Iwata HP-CH. I own a CH (which is a better brush than PB) and PS-770 is running circles around it.
Recommending ProconBoy is basically saying, spend $115, grow out of it in a year, then spend $225 on a PS-77X. It is not a good recommendation.

i know more and more people have been starting to flock over there to buy gunpla since theyve been getting big restock orders compared to the other gunpla stores in the area in garden grove so they tend to sell out on things pretty quickly as soon as they get it.

I prefer to take it piece by piece, but that's cause I do custom colors. If you just want to topcoat and no custom paint, then that's fine to spray the kit as a whole. I still would probably separate some pieces that I may not evenly spray/coat you know what I mean?
Also this may be super obvious but shake the shit out of the can, and submerge the rattlecan topcoat in a bowl of warm water for about 5-10 mins.

yeah submerge before using the rattle can. I forget but i was always told to do so. something about increasing the pressure of the can and making the paint molecules even as they spray out of the can. im probably wrong, but its always recommended.
