Don't freak out. The cashier is just making conversation. Humans do that. They will have forgotten about your transaction before they finish with the next person unless you completely spaz out. Most are just trying to pleasantly pass the time. Lie or don't, obsess over it or don't, they really don't care... they are just trying to be nice.

I'm old, my kids are all adults, and I give zero fucks about what the cashier thinks. Been asked when buying toys for myself and have answered honestly. Most respond with a canned answer of "oh, cool" or "my friend collects toys too" but I've also met some cashiers that also collect toys.

Many of them are a bit too large for the typical 1/12 and maybe 1/10 scale, but they definitely are cute.

This isn't specifically about mini brands but I sometimes have these same worries about getting plushies. I definitely feel self conscious being a guy and walking up to the register with plushies like pic related. Luckily they haven't mentioned anything but if they did, I could just say I'm reselling them.

I've never bought any but kids and adults seem to open them up and steal them all the time so I find them all over the godamn place weekly at work.
Oddly enough the mini toys are rarely stolen, it's always the mini groceries.

At this point I've just got a pile of em since otherwise we just toss em in the trash

Well it's not that they're stolen less it's just usually when those are stole they take em all.

It's always tripped me out how you can legitimately sale 5 mini brand balls, 10 get stolen, and the stores will get 2 or more cases of each type of mini brand every week.

I have no interest in the toy ones because they're too modern and out of my time, while I'll always be buying things like Heinz ketchup or cream cheese. That's how I feel personally.

On the other hand, I'd pay good money for miniatures of older toys like Beast Wars Transformers or old Bionicle canisters. I think there would be a subset of collectors who would love tiny vintage toys from the 70-90s.
