Figured this would be the right place. I'm new to collecting western stuff but I've been getting back into comic books lately and really wanna pick up a posable Rebirth era Batman. What is the best figure to pick up?
Anonymous
>>9827737 There's two different McFarlane Batman figures with that look. The more recent one is just his Rebirth era costume. The first release was based off a cover for Dark Knights Metal so it's a tad more stylized and he has some battle damage like on the cover. Sounds like you'd be more interested in the newer one. It should be still readily available at places like BBTS or Dorksidetoys.
If you're looking for something 1/12 scale, the McFarlane figures are closer to 1/10 scale, there's the older DC Icons figure that isn't bad. It might be a tad pricey on the aftermarket and if you want other characters to pair with him you're a little limited on who's available and they will all absolutely be expensive.

>>9827768 says the currently easily available Batman Rebirth figure is all over the place for $20 right now.
People seem to generally like the figure due to the flexible trunks being very malleable to allow for more leg movement than usual. Here's a pic.
Anonymous
>>9827768 Thanks for the response. I did see the Dark Knights Metal version and was not too keen on the stylization. But looking it up the recently released one looks pretty much exactly up my alley. And for $20 it seems like a great deal.
I looked it up and the Icons figure looks really nice but prices for single figures are kinda crazy. Best thing I could find was the Justice League 7 Pack on ebay for ~150 and that seems a tad high. And they're smaller scale too, right? Also how is articulation on those compared to the McFarlane figures? If the Icons figures are much better I would consider getting the 7 pack since I would like a Superman, Wonder Woman, and Flash
Anonymous
>>9827797 >Also how is articulation on those compared to the McFarlane figures? I'd say on par. They're better in some places, worse in others. I have that seven pack with the JL you refer to. It was HEAVILY discounted years ago, I got mine for like $50 bucks. $150 may seem a little steep but if you want a complete JL it's really not too far off what you'd be paying to get the other McF figures. For a roster of all seven, if you paid retail, it'd work out to about $140 before tax and shipping. And that is IF you could find all of them for retail. Plus McF has yet to make a "default" style WW only variants like how she appeared in Death Metal. So you'd have to wait it out until Todd finally does her. He did finally do an Aquaman and a modern and classic Martian Manhunter that should still be around retail I'd imagine.
>And they're a smaller scale too right? Yes. They're 1/12 (6in) scale which is kind of the default scale at the moment for most other super hero toylines. For example Marvel Legends are around 1/12 scale, Star Wars Black Series is strict 1/12 and so on and so forth. So if you say wanted to mix and match some Marvel and DC figures you'd probably want to stick with 1/12 scale. Todd's stuff is 1/10 scale (7in) so it doesn't really mix and match well with other superhero lines out right now. You can kinda fudge certain characters though.
Also most import lines are 1/12 scale. So if you do decide you eventually want to take the Japan pill, you may want to take that into consideration. For example, I swapped out Icons Batman and Superman for their Mafex counterparts and they look quite good with the rest of the Icons JL. Pic related is my JL. Definitely look up what the McF versions look like too though, you may prefer them. Up to you.

>>9827868 And then Batman with Icons Damian and Nightwing. Those two are particularly expensive since Nightwing came out right when the line ended alongside Damian who came in a two pack with Jon Kent. So glad I pre ordered those guys, they're stupid expensive now.
Mafex is currently going through characters from the Batman Hush storyline which is where Batman and Superman are from. They have quite a few more at this point like Catwoman, Hush and Joker already available. They also seem to be tackling the Reign of the Supermen as we've gotten a black suit Superman, and we're getting (at some point if they don't keep getting delayed) a Cyborg Superman and a Steel.
My hope is we get a classic Conner Kent and Time Drake out of Mafex since they both appeared in those respective stories.

Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the figure though am I crazy or are the legs a little long? Either way, he looks great posed. Now I'm considering getting the Rebirth Superman from that line.
Good to know about the scale. I was checking out the Mafex toys and they look incredible. Price is high but in particular the Return of Superman figure fills me with so much nostalgia that I want to grab it at some point. I'm leaning towards biting the bullet and just getting the Icons set too.
I just wanted a modern Batman but now I really want a Bat family collection. Such a slippery slope getting back into toy collecting. I saw that McFarlane has a new Damian coming out and that looks good. I haven't seen a good Nighwing searching around the online stores(cept the preorders for the Mafex). Seems like the Batgirl figures aren't that great either.
