>>9840489 Nah, obviously not. I mean, I'm looking to do the same eventually, but despite the widespread availability of Ep1 merch back in the day, even loose Ep1 figures are hard to come by here in Yuropoorland where I live.
Of course objectively speaking the main character figures, like Darth Maul, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, Jar Jar Binks, etc. are very much obsolete. Most of them weren't even great in 1999, let alone now; but I still harbor nostalgic feeling for the Ep1 Obi-Wan head sculpt and I feel like it's better than the TLC/TVC one, not that either of them would be a perfect Ewan McGregor likeness.
That said, there's a bunch of characters or characters in certain outfits that were released only in the Ep1 line: Sio Bibble, Nute Gunray (in his Ep1 outfit), Rune Haako, most of the Padmés, "naked" Threepio, Captain Panaka, Watto (Ep1 version), Chancellor Valorum, Gasgano...
Also the Ep1 line versions of Padmé in her "battle" outfit are probably better than the later 2008-2009 version, but all three have various issues and none of them is super-articulated. Maybe Hasblow'll give us an SA Ep1 Battle Padmé for the 30th anniversary of Ep1?
R2-B1 and TC-14 have been re-released later on but they're still fun droids and definitely worth getting.
And the Ep1 Naboo Royal Starship is probably one of the biggest SW vehicles ever made, right on par with the Sail Barge and BMF; it's somewhat expensive-ish on eBay but not that atrocious if and when you're looking to get a brand new one. Mind you, I expect there to be some battery leakage on them brand new ones because they have batteries installed for the "try me" functionality and 1999 was a while ago...

continuing with the thought that the TVC deluxe packs could provide some small vehicles, heres some autism showing the stormtrooper riding the E-web cannon. if this is the average amount of plastic you get in each deluxe pack than I think it would be easy to offer some 1-man vehicles in them, especially so if they dont include a figure. Something like a ST-AP should be more than doable in these, or the speeder bikes from Book of Boba(not that anyone wants them), they look small enough too.

picked up some black series imperial figures that i like, but i cant get over how awkward it is to display/store the black series packaging, anyone have any examples on how to? litteraly four different boxes just from these figures, normal square boxes with no sidecover art, then the normal box with the tilted side that has sidecover art, retro garbage bubble wrap boxes, and a second size of the tilted side box, just so you cant fit them next to the normal ones i really think many of the black series are good toys for their money, but whats up with these boxes

The cardback design is for re-releases, the black/red box had been the longest running design, till they changed it to the black/white with some color design. I think they are planning to get rid of the window altogether which is just absurd imo considering how poorly quality can be on figures.

Anonymous
>>9842383 It's a good figure but it does lack some touches that really make it shine after the fact. Most notably is you will probably need to heat and reshape the helmet because of the way it gets squished from the blister in the package. The other is it needs some additional painting and weathering. There's no wash on the jumpsuit so it looks very plain and is glossy and then there's a few details Hasbro left out painting like the soles of his boots. But after those few fixes it is a pretty good figure. The flame and jetpack effects are neat but I don't think they should have included the whipcord, it's just a string with a plastic hook that you could just make your own with wire and actually make it posable. And the version of his blaster that's cut in half is pretty useless as an accessory and looks like he spilled mustard on it. Would have rather they saved the material on those two and just knocked the price down or given him a flight stand instead.

For anyone who happens to care about this, the cantina sets being 40% off on pulse seemed like as good a time as any to pick up two to look at, really can't imagine paying $50 for these but at $30 it's a bit less unreasonable. For the most part it's all fairly nice, only big complaint is that if they absolutely needed to make the windowframe cardboard, it would've been less terrible if they'd at least color-matched it better, the print has a pinkish hue to it that stands out a lot depending on the lighting. Still, for $60 this is pretty alright, when it inevitably goes on sale again somewhere it's worth grabbing if you have some space to keep it set up.

>>9850301 Because the prequels were imperfect in their execution and had some stupid dialogue and rough CGI and shit but overall they did wonders for expanding on the SW galaxy and introduced new stuff. New characters, concepts, designs and fun planets. Later material also did a good job at exploring parts of the Clone Wars and Jedi and shit and it was fun.
The sequels have none of that shit. It retreads the OT but much worse. No new designs. X-Wings and TIE fighters and stormtroopers. Ugly character designs. Boring aliens. Boring planets. Atrocious, barren plot. Ruined old characters. Left a bad taste in too many people's mouths from where Disney shit in them. I see no way to expand on the sequel era and even if they did I wouldn't care.

If that isn't reason enough to stop TVC and launch a new line that's not a slave to its packaging, then I don't know what is. It also begs the question why TBS can't have those regularly when there is no packaging legacy they have to worry about. And I don't buy the excuse that it's too expensive with their license when Marvel Legends can do this shit with a C tier character and charge $25. >>9852592 >>9852620 >>9852683 TVC has enough cardback-fags (and, for the record, Star Wars has had mint-on-card collectors for decades) that I'm sure they do consider that kind of thing to an extent, but I think she's full of shit. It's not like TBS does swappable hands because it's free of these aesthetic tradeoffs. I don't think TVC's branding is a binding constraint. I don't care about the packaging for much of anything I buy and almost always toss it (TVC, Figuarts, MOTU, whatever) but if TVC's carded collectors help keep the line afloat I'm fine with it. I doubt very much it's holding anything back.

This whole “the prequels were good” historical revisionism has been so weird to experience. People spent 15-20 years knowing the prequels were bad and then suddenly (roughly the same time Disney came into the picture?) people started trying to pass them off as good. Is it the people who were 5 when they came out and are just blinded by childhood nostalgia? Or is it people trying to pretend the prequels are good so they can bolster their argument that the sequels are worse (because you can’t really argue that Disney & KK ‘ruined’ Star Wars if Lucas already did it 20 years ago). I'd pretty much consider the prequels and sequels to be on par with each other. You can find lots of things to criticise and things to enjoy. ------- Anyway, the new Vader/Obi-Wan Ralph McQuarrie set looks fun, I hope that means maybe some more McQuarrie inspired figures might be in the works if it does well enough. I have to imagine that a Starkiller and Boba Felt will eventually happen because they're just too cool a design not to. They already did the Snowtrooper as part of the Gaming Greats

But I think a lot of people are forgetting just how poor the prequels were for story, acting, cgi (overuse), characterisation, and a bunch of other stuff. Having good music doesn't help any of that.
For every positive you can think of for the prequels you can think of one for the sequels (and same for negatives), for example, the prequels had crappy cgi clone troopers, while the sequels put real people in suits, or in the prequels everyone had the same flat, serious personality (except for jarjar), while the sequels tried to give everybody personality and expression...

>>9854683 >But I think a lot of people are forgetting just how poor the prequels were for story, acting, cgi (overuse), characterisation, and a bunch of other stuff. Having good music doesn't help any of that. Were you born in 1999, thus have no real memories of how normies and fans actually treated the prequels?
Normies were blown the fuck away by the prequels and every movie was a fucking event and an orgy of merch sales.
Critics mostly liked the movies.
Fans ate it up like it was candy, hence two cartoon series being made. Genndy Tartakovsky's Clone Wars series was a massive success, both in ratings and merch sales. Then 3 years after Revenge of the Sith, since fans were still pumped up for even more prequel material, another Clone Wars series was created. This cartoon went for 6 years, right up to Disney buying the series and another prequels series was created after that, which went on for 4 years, until Disney wanted to create a sequels based cartoon... that failed, because the sequels are largely disliked by fans.
If fans didn't like the prequels, there wouldn't have been a solid decade of prequel series being lapped up by fans and children alike.
Even today, everything that is being produced is either about the prequels or OT, because they still have a large fanbase.
Just because there was heavy criticism by popular reviewers for the prequels doesn't mean fans hated the prequels. People mistaking these reviews as being popular opinion is the real historical revisionism.

>>9854797 I remember the hype for TPM being unreal. It was the biggest movie release up to that point. And I was at the absolute height of my SW fixation as a kid. I was just the right age that the kidified stuff was just so cool. Pod Racing? Fuck yeah! Darth Maul? He's a bad guy dialed up to 11, fuck yeah! It was great. Natalie Portman was part of my sexual awakening.
But I remember as time went on, the hype dying down. I remember people still being hyped for AotC but people just not really connecting with that film the same way they did previously. I mean it didn't help that George Lucas can't write a love story to save his life but that's besides the point. By the time of RotS I barely even cared about the finale of the prequels. I was still into SW at the time, I absolutely adored Genndy Clone Wars. But I remember distinctly waiting until! The last week it was in theaters to go see RotS with my friends. I was 16ish and we all still were fine with SW. But we only really went out of obligation, like we were such fans as kids we felt we needed to go to finish the saga and see it through. It definitely didn't have they hype that the earlier movies had, despite it being easily the best film of the prequels. I worked at Target at the time, often working the toy and electronics sections and I barely remember there being a push for RotS merch like there was for TPM or AotC.
That's just how I remember it. Take my anecdotal evidence with whatever grain of salt you'd like, but that's how I experienced it. I was introduced to SW with the Special Editions in 97 and was the perfect age to be obsessed with it. I'd like to think that obsession died out as I got older but I can't help but think the diminishing quality of the sequels in comparison to the OT wasn't a part of that.

>rumored for a solo show >given first spot for reveals >3 different hasbro figures >her own haslab >multiple funko pops(tbf everyone gets at least one of these) >Multiple articles and headlines about her, especially about "being prepared for racism by Disney" and the storm of defense after someone inevitably called her a doodoo head That's all I can think of right now.

>>9852193 >>9853435 I don't recall the precise date anymore nor was I able to find it in the site's archives, but the last post tagged
JediBusiness.com is dated late July 2021 and I think the name change happened around that time. One day the site was fine (when accessed as
JediBusiness.com ) and the next day it was throwing out SSL certificate errors. Allegedly, according to a statement posted by the site on the site, it *wasn't* due to Disney/Lucasfilm but because some third-party vendor refused to print out and ship merchandise with the
JediBusiness.com logo since it contained the word "Jedi". It sounded like a bad excuse then and even more so now.
