If they are real that is a lot of cool things. If they are fake and 2023 is just Sideswipe recolors then I just don't bother getting them. It doesn't seem to be outright destructive in either way. Plus EarthSpark would be airing at that time, so even if the line aimed at manchildren is boring, the actual children one might be neat.

There are some 3P remolds/repaints... 3 or 4. Hasbro did a few homages. Hasbro trademarked "Machine Robo" back in the 200s though to try & stop Bandai from importing anything, as they do own the "Gobots" trademark too.

But even if this collab does turn into something big for TFs, Hasbro will probably not like it.

G1 Megatron is a fun but wonky toy. People who elevate it as anything more than that are letting 35+ years of fiction cloud their judgement.

That’s true, but there’s a mod to extend the “slider track” which fixes the problem. I did it back in the day as a teenager and it was pretty easy.

Ultra Magnus is another Animated figure that seems kind of memory-holed. The shoulders are wonky but otherwise it was great for its time and stuffed with integrated weapons.

2007 movie Wreckage is still a really cool toy. A lot of non-movie characters were great. The 07 line doens't get enough love because the movie characters have gotten more accurate toys thrice over at least (and even then I'd argue that a lot of the 07 toys are still good as toys.)

Yeah unfortunately thigh swivels weren’t considered “essential” at the time. Judged against their contemporaries though they were awesome. I still think Wreckage would have made a good Megatron design.

i was thinking about dinoformers last night.. i still haven't fully completed my inner idea of how a chinese dragon type should work without partsforming (I'm thinking the top of the head should flip around to form a shin guard) but I have decided two things for sure:
1. we need a red remold of dinobot and/or an entire Primal Rage transformers line
2. dinobot's raptor feet need to be proper long ones, but you can have the double thumb fold out of the back of his heel, hinged at the heel and making the heel the new wrist. that way the length of the foot is now the length of the palm, so it'll look less unnatural. Next time they redo him, that's how it's gotta go.

Hasbro has so many older toys they could reissue or just redo in new colors, but if it's more than 3 years old they'd rather forget the mold exists. Arcee's odd because instead of reissuing it they tinkered with it to make it worse, while the designer patted himself on the ass for a job shittily done. It's like they all saw Tyson Hesse be a loser & figured they'd do the same.

Chinese dragon is easy.
You make the head kind of big, and have it split in two and form the arms. The long torso will swing up and over the back of the head, then down between the head halves, so the tail is sticking straight down.
Split the tail in half to form the legs.

That's a japanese styled dragon (I know, it shouldn't be considering Liu Kang's origins.
But the same principle should apply, you just might have to split part of the neck into arms as well, with each half of the head becoming the forarms like transmetal cheetor.
You would still have the torso fold down on itself and have the tail portion split in two.

I have to argue in favor of the studio series arcee, while one could say it may be worse in terms of style and esthetic, it also has useful articulation add in exchange. The thrilling 30 arcee has an immovable block (as shapely as it is) for a torso, while the studio series has waist rotation and an ab crunch, the studio series is going to be able to pull off much more dynamic poses.

I'm admittedly not a fan of the new ones backpack however, and I prefer the thrilling 30s vehicle mode.

I do, but that cheats in multiple ways, and is not terribly satisfying in either mode.
I also know of ryuseioh, but he partsforms, the show model cheats, and the toy of him is not very satisfying. requires a big central body chunk, I would like a version of the dragon torso that folds nicely into a humanoid torso.. and the dragon arms would fold around nicely to be robot arms, with the dragon legs maybe forming some nice impressive backpack accessories and/or pauldrons.

In my opinion, and I think the g1 dinobots bear this out, a snake/dragon/dinosaurtail is very unsatisfying when it splits in half. you either get obviously "half-shaped" limbs from it, or it starts out twice as thick as it should be.

I loved him as a kid, but now I recognize how much the show model (pictured) cheats.. still fine for a sentai mecha, they are allowed to be very abstract, but not what I'd want from a transformer. I really want to like this pack, but it being red card exclusive and not having enough guns kind of sours it for me. It just doesn't seem worth the $34 price tag when the Ratchet gun seems goofy with any of the barrels and you don't get enough guns to go around for all the barrels. Substitute for G1 reissues that they didn't have the molds for, even then with the Japanese heads. And no guarantee the new Weirdwolf & Mindwipe won't fall apart the same as the first run did, which I suspect spurned part of the decision. They were more an exception than the rule & G1 reissues are dead. BW reissues are a special line that's horribly overpriced because "but eBay prices" just like the old TRU G1 reissues were(the marketing for those even brought up eBay prices to justify the gouging), of which is barely even trickling out through the retailer they're exclusive to & have changes solely to preserve an aftermarket of manchildren who think their toys are stocks. I'd be surprised if that continues past this current wave.

The Voyager Class Hound from TLK line was an insane improvement over the shitty AOE one, and the Movie The Best version from Takara basically perfected it by giving it the proper guns and a great paint job.

Yeah, Primal Rage 2 was a baffling amount of stupidity. I don't know why they thought having humans in there was a good idea, I can only assume they saw Clayfighter and assumed that was the wave of the future... for some reason. Not Tekken, or VF or what was happening with MK at the time, Clayfighters.

I'd still genuinely love to see them do something like what Iron Galaxy did for MS with Killer Instinct. But I doubt Warner are even aware they have that license. I think they got it as part of a job lot when people starting tearing hunks of Midway apart after it collapsed.

well, yes, in general, I like my wheels to "work", by which I assume you mean "roll". My problem with clip-on wheels is when they do it like this, you end up with the cheap-ass looking mushroom clips as the hubcaps. Unless a toy is a amazing otherwise, this is almost always a no-buy for me. Also, they don't roll as well as pinned wheels.

I dug out my Human Alliance Bumblebee last night; I probably haven't transformed this guy in close to 10 years. He was the bot that got me into collecting Transformers, and although I'm not really into Bayformers anymore, I've got a soft spot in my heart for him. He's a little scrappy here and there, but I think he still looks great, overall.

I also just walked into my local Toys R Us and found him on the shelf, and bought him for MSRP, so he set an extremely unrealistic standard for the rest of my life as collector of Transformers.

I really liked the new Camaro when it debuted; it was probably half the reason I bought this toy in the first place. My inner Amerimutt still has a fondness for it. Yeah, I only started having trouble finding retail shit once Combiner Wars was in full swing. Before that, I bought a ton of ROTF and CHUG figures by just waltzing into TRU on the way home from work. The only time I ever had to resort to ebay was when I wanted something long out of production.

I didn't entirely hate the battle damage on some figures. Flywheels is a prime example, since his is done with silver, it actually looks like some of his paint got scraped off, and serves as a nice highlight to what is otherwise an entirely brown figure. Most of it does just look like mold or stains, though.

I remember a review for Beast Machines Jetstorm on Unicron.com started with something like "G1 Starscream was $15/20, now we have a $10 jet with way more articulation and a way better transformation". In 2000, that 15 would've been worth $25.

Graphically, the arcade version was fucking amazing for it's time. None of the home versions every really got it right all the way. The PS1 and Saturn versions have the looks... but load times you could make a cup of tea during. I always said the 32X version struck the best balance between load times and graphics myself.

There was a lot of weird technical stuff they were doing there that nobody else ever did.
...possibly with good reason.
Like how special moves are directional input then face button, but you hold the face button down first and THEN do the motion. It opened up weird technical things you just couldn't do with the traditional inputs... but also, to be fair, vice versa. There was at least one arcade patch that allowed both methods to work, which must have been weird.

It's also one of the few remaining arcade roms to give MAME real trouble to get right, and the fully functioning never released Primal Rage II rom that somebody managed to find was a seismic event.

Pulse Premium Finish Magnus arrived. This thing looks amazing in hand. The only issue is that they did that awful printing battle damage paint for the thighs, but compared to other releases, this is nothing.

it won't hide it if one part yellows while another part touching it doesn't, the color separation at the seam is what really throws one off
if he would yellow UNIFORMLY it would be no big deal, as he is meant to be slightly off white (on top). the paint wash sort of attempts this, but also screws up in its application and stops abruptly at some parts.. I had to continue the wash myself.

Menasor having yellowing issue drives me up the wall. He's probably the coolest figure I've seen this year (even if the other stunticons are just bolt on for the arms and legs), and it makes me sad that I'll probably cancel my preorder since there's no way to know if my copy won't suffer from those issues.

Problem is I HAVE the Prime Wars set, and like them just fine. This seems like a downgrade and worried the others might follow suit. The Deluxe Insecticon color variants barely pique my interest but they'd probably drop Venom, since it's only Legacy recolors.

I get how you feel. personally I'd rather have silver plastic yellowing than white plastic. Silver's easy to paint over, it tends to 'want' to match better with surrounding silver even if you're slightly off in the shade or metallicness of it. but white's super hard to match, tiny imperfections in even the translucency of it will fuck with your head in a way paint can't solve.

The parts that are yellowing also aren't the one's you can paint, since it's normally made out of the unpaintable plastic. You technically can paint it, but it's a pain in the ass to both get it to match and make sure it stays on.

I understood that 'unpaintable' doesn't apply to home hobbyist paint, only to the specific kind they use in factories that's quick and cheap. The tricky part here I think would be more to do with it being in the middle of a joint.. but in my experience if you paint it, clearcoat it, and then let it dry.. it'll merely tighten the joint but the paint won't scrape that much.

Current biggest gorilla is 450 lbs, so yeah, they're technically not even as big as Shaq or Yao Ming. Basically there's always been humans bigger than them.
Gigantopithecus was twice as big as modern gorillas, standing 9 ft tall.
But an elephant sized gorilla wouldn't make any sense. They'd require an entirely different habitat and much of their adaptations would be useless. There's a reason all the really big animals live in plains and deserts. Grizzly bears are about as big as you get in forested areas

Inflation is never across the board except when the government prints more money (like most of them did in 2020)
Inflation is very industry specific. Oil inflates because it's a highly future-based market, so anything that could ruin production next year means prices raise this year, and that directly impacts toy costs.
Copper prices get inflated at different rates than oil, so sometimes you'll get toys having a lot of electronics because it's gotten cheaper, sometimes the electronics will be skimped on cause it's more expensive now. Same with aluminum and other materials used in electronics.
Right now I'm doing the grocery shopping for my wife and I, and gassing up, and paying all the bills, and buying clothes.
I see it EVERYWHERE.
Except I don't see it much in pure labor costs. That was last year when covid encouraged employers to drastically increase their wages to get people back to work, so they're a little inflation proof for the year.
Now they have the reverse problem of the labor being really sub par and not worth the 15 an hour they're paying.

That and the front of the tank is a set of thrusters and tailfins, making no real attempt to make them look like anything else.

elephants live in the plains/savannahs mostly.
the one's that don't, like the african forest elephant, is much smaller, smaller than a grizzly or other large bear, though they do weight much more than a bear.
In fact, the largest bears that actually compare to elephants are polar bears and kodiak bears, who both live in arctic climates (though the kodiak island does have more trees, they're not the rich dense forests you see in mainland alaska)

From what we know of the age of dinosaurs, there were not a large amount of dense forests like we know today. Those came around towards the end, as mammals appeared on the scene.
Not to mention the plates shifting meant there was literally more connected land for larger animals to navigate around.

Carp will often grow to whatever size is ideal for their environment, given they have a steady food supply. Move them to a bigger tank and they'll often get noticeably bigger.

Same principle.

I'm just saying a giant king kong styled gorilla would require giant environmental changes, if we, like, GMOed one into existing, it wouldn't be able to survive in the wild.

most dinosaurs weren't reptiles though, but that's a whole other issue.
Honestly, they're probably fine being their own classification, as they are reptile-like but warm blooded like birds, but some of them ended up being more like mammals.

Legacy is an actionmaster with limited shoulder range.

Headmaster is bigger, more fun to transform and doesn't cheat on his transformation, legacy cheats on all 3 modes, fake wings for robot mode, fake jet cockpit for tank mode and tries to pass a sandwich for jet mode.

TLDR: buy Legacy if you don't transform your transformers, keep the headmaster if you like fun.

This is very clearly a tank. I think, to its credit, the compromises it makes actually just look like stylizations, such as the jet engines up front, or the wing-fenders over the treads. The legacy version's jet-penis is far more offensive than anything going on here, in my opinion.

Is that what he's going for nowadays? For someone who's never handled the mold before, that's a hard sell. I'd probably say no. That's steep for ANY retail-grade Transformer.

But, given how much I love the LG Megatron version, I'd probably pay $100 if I had to replace him. Definitely my favorite triple changer mold of all time. But I'm a faggot for both headmasters and G2 repaints, so take that as you will. I agree with >>9846364 in that the transformations are very fun, practical, and intuitive. Every mode has its noticeable compromises, but they're well-balanced and result in a toy where no one mode feels like it completely bears the burden of the other two, which is probably why it's my favorite.

lmao, $15 an hour was barely an acceptable living wage before all of this inflation. It's still basically an insult, and that's why employees don't give a fuck. Pay people enough so that they don't have to live hand-to-mouth, or deal with shitty labor. So many corporations are touting record profits right now, despite wage hikes and labor shortages. $20 should be the federal minimum wage right now, at the bare minimum.
