>>9854945I am going to second Mattel as a doll collector.
Monster High was the best selling fashion doll line of all time in the 2010s, but Mattel killed the goose that laid the golden eggs simply because they didn’t want any other doll brand to sell more than Barbie.
They killed off ever after high for the same reason, (a spin off line that in someways had a better story,) after Disney gave the Disney princess license to Hasbro instead.
Both lines had massive budget cuts before being canceled entirely, it was so sad to see because they used to be really lovely and detailed.
They rebranded Barbie to be “diverse and inclusive“ in 2015 and introduced three different body types that they stopped creating specific fashion packs for, a year after launch.
Now every single Barbie fashion pack is baggy and shapeless so that it can fit the curvy (fat) body.
Most of the dolls have ugly flat feet now that makes dressing them harder because “high heels oppressive”, The faces are UV print instead of airbrush decal now because it’s cheaper, resulting in grainy blurry details, hair fiber is low quality poly propylene instead of saran, there is no diversity in fabric choices, and most dolls that aren’t made to move have only five PoA.
Mattel is putting in the bare minimum and thinks that their low quality products will sell because of brand name recognition.
I’m absolutely tired of it
