Im still a little on the fance with castle being that expenisive, but fuck its 400dolaros and i almost dont buy anything for myself nowadays, besides my gf will cheap in to make me smile anyway. 3in1 one was a fun partpack but i didnt like burps + columns on the front and towers, it looked nice on the 1st glance but all the empty spaces between bricks gave me autism. Sometimes burps are best stuff, but when used with normal bricks, cilinders are for columns and oval towers. How much time do you think castle and space sets will be avaliable? Im considering classic set somewhere later this year, i just dont have sucha nostalgia hardon for it comparing to classic castle, I use to collect space during later period- btron, iceplanet, exploriens, ufo and aquanauts.

Depends what it looks like. If it's actually a little studio area to make mocs or a nice display of vintage sets, it's based. If it's space that's crammed full of shit by a hoarder, it gets cringe fast.

I have a Lego room, it's a cluster fuck of a mess, no furniture, except a bed I have a Hogwarts castle set up on from all cilp together sets they released since it came back, mocs and sets around the edge of the room on the floor, piles and tubs of bricks scattered around some panels from an old cupboard I've repurposed into a building surface

cardboard box lined with a bin bag to stop parts falling off and coming out the box, then place the sets/etc in and pad it with clothing
worked for me, a few bits came off in transit but everything was still in the box

Break them down (doesn't have to be 100%, just to reduce the size), into ziplock bags (good quality ones), label them, then into durable storage tubs, you can always line the tubs with bubble wrap, towels or whatever.

My entire life fits into like 12 100L tubs, 10 of which are Lego kek

Most of the stuff just in boxes with some padding. Managed to move my modulars in some plastic boxes that were exactly the right height for those, and then filed the rest with bubble wrap

Realistically I can get 4-5 Creator Castles plus at-least 10+ Minifigs (in addition to the castle set figs) for what the new Castle cost.

I'm kinda tempted to do both and just compare.

Piece count alone weighs heavily in favour of the 3 in 1 approach.

It's not a 1-for-1 copy as I couldn't figure out how he made the back end of the coach so I just winged it and made my own, which I think looks a little bit smoother. I also need to make an interior, but that can wait until I make this physically.

Want the Captain for the ship. I like that Lego is basically releasing model vehicles with enough potential to build in and around them while keeping the design smooth. The popcorn guy will go great with corncob-man, can't wait to mess around with the robot suit's geometry, and the gingerbread house will make for a nice little cottage.

But my roomates got a new kitten and I had to hide all of my lego because he would play with them and fuck with them. I havent been buying lego sets as much because of that. Im pissed off. Thats exactly it. There's no photos I've found yet but the designers described it in that interview, the tunnel goes under the gate. It's really made me excited about this set, I love that stuff and the forestmen were my favorite theme

The thing about the castle is that when someone gets it no one will be able to provide any proper criticism due to the fact that it's fucking 400€. When you spend that kind of money, no matter how shit something might be(and I'm not saying the castle will be shit), your brain will convince yourself it's greatest thing ever to lessen the cognitive dissonance. At most you'll get a few "I wish they could have included [something] but overall I really really love it it's my favorite set ever". It's literally impossible to be objective.

You can redecorate, that prince goes straight into the stables where he belongs, gotta make a room for queens bed. If you consider getting the new Samurai X mech then ONLY do it at a steep discount.
Just built it and I have no idea where the 40/50 bucks difference went compared to the other large Ninjago mechs since it's only slightly bigger and chunkier than those, often it felt like they omitted one or two pieces during construction and the throw-in crystal bat thing is worth 15 bucks at best.
80 would've been an appropiate retail price but 110 (and soon 120)?! Fuck no.

with how autistically they managed to put ladders everywhere else (which did bother me when there were none as a kid) I wouldn't be amazed if there's a trapdoor or some other system for some of these areas. wouldn't count that out completely yet.

Finally got my haul.
Only actually wanted to get the JP set as I was waiting for that ever since I was a kid. Padded it with some gifts for friends and family and a drinking bottle that was already in the washer when I took the picture, so I'd get the hideout.
I'm intrigued by the DOTS thing. Actually got me a little more than I had to, because I wanted to try it out.

Not that easy. Disney owns Indy from 5 onwards but Paramount holds rights to 4 previous films. So this may be a problem. They will probably do only new sets related to new movie unless Paramount agrees to do something related to previous films.

Blacksmith is incredibly soulful, certainly approaching moc tier with it's detailing, but it's done extremely tastefully and faithfully to the original set and is genuinely one of my all time favorite sets. Great to play with, great minifigs, great to display, will probably pick up a second to build another shop.

Forest Hideout is solid, my only real qualm is that it's perhaps a little too faithful to the original with respect to colour. Spergs would have probably shat a brick if they did something crazy and introduced a little brown for a tree, but if you're going to modernize the parts, you may as well play with the colours and textures as well.

Honestly the Blacksmith, Pirates of Barracuda Bay and both the Pirates/Castle 3 in 1 have restored my faith in Lego. Spent too many years looking at new sets and just going and finding older sets second hand to purchase because there was nothing I liked.

How does Lego price regular sets? I mean I understand that licensed sets carry a premium and they'll happily slap a nostalgia tax on certain sets, but when it comes to regular sets it feels like they're so hell bent on a few select price points that a lot of sets get rounded way the fuck up to hit the next price bracket.

Just idly scrolling through sets and these really stuck out to me as not being comparable at all set wise despite the same price.

LEGO's official store prices are fucked here, you'll find a lot of those sets for significantly less in regular department stores. Kmart tends to be pretty good with the $33 dollar sets retailing for $22 etc Some of them are even on sale at Big W for half of what the LEGO store sells them for at retail.

Egyptian landmarks were mostly blocky and rough around edges, following simple square patterns and close to 90 degree angles. LEGO bricks are perfect for recreating this. Other landmarks require weird angles. For example Greek temple would be more triangular at top and Roman Colosseum or Pantheon are already rounded. Blocky Egyptian style feels more natural for LEGO.

So I said I was going to get the blacksmith so I did, currently waiting on bits for the Newbury Express to give the a rear platform for either a vagrant stowaway or the 2nd conductor having a drink or something in the fresh air.

Swapped the black chassis plate to dark grey now it matches the carriages. Not sure what I'm doing with the snot bricks.

Ghosts are going to let the bone lads take the train and to motorise it I think I will need to buy either of the "new" passenger trains the yellow and blue ones my best bet, and make a tender for it rather than try and hide a motor in it. Getting the flappy carriages to work on a track might be pushing shit uphill.

found this on archive.org, took me back instantly. I remember getting this catalog in the mail and spending hours thinking about which ones I'd ask for for christmas. specifically the harry potter stuff really had a hold on me, and I would collect HP lego basically ever since. I remember the big SW stuff being super impressive but all too complicated for me because I was like 8 and also I didn't really like star wars. bionicle started this year too and I got a few of them as well, I remember getting the white one and the black ones specifically, but I had most if not all of them over time. man I still remember opening the castle and being so excited and just staring at the box because I wasn't allowed to open it until after we had christmas dinner. I'm pretty sure I even hung up some of the pages from this catalog in my room for a while.

Why the fuck did Lego stop doing rereleases? I get that it's because most of the molds are outdated/destroyed and the change in plastic colors in the mid-2000s, but even if it was just one set a year I'd love to see some classic 80s/90s town or space sets get a rerelease. Reimaginings are cool and all, but there's a charm to the originals too.

I use all the factions with a Lion crest as different branches/ranks of the same royal family (Crusaders, Royal Knights, KK1 Lions). The Black Falcon and Dragon Master are vassals of the King (I use King Leo) either fighting for him or in open rebellion. The KK1 Bulls are bandits who may turn mercenary for whoever pays the most, and the Fright Knights serve the Necromancer Witch with her army of skeletons. I haven't decided on the Forestmen yet, they're either scouts/rangers for the King or just bros who hang out in the forest and don't get involved in politics.

As a kid I always wanted a forest for my forestmen to hide and live in. With roads going through for carriages that can be raided. Also multistorey trees. But that was never possible at least with Lego. I got two of those, but that clearly didn't cut it. lol.

I just use a brick separator, basically the same way this chingchong does it. also you can take a hair dryer and heat it up a bit on a warm setting, and you should be able slide it down the little bit that you need to.

I usually don't put any stickers on whatsoever but obviously the lime ones are pretty important to this set.

If you have to place something exactly, I've used things like exacto knifes to hold an edge of the sticker - using tools you can get way more accurate / precise.

If you mess up a sticker placement, you can place it near a hot mug of tea to loosen up the adhesive to unstick and replace the sticker (thanks robinhood bricks for the tip btw, they have my fav youtuber city), though that is not always possible with older stickers as sometimes UV light makes them crack, but it is often doable.

How would you even model this set? You'd have to place the boat, raft, and buoy on some chicken wire or something, and place the ruins and sub down below. I like the creativity but it doesn't seem very practical for play.

I like it. Feels like a return to the more classic form. I like these series better when it's just a seemingly random group rather than the licensed ones. Given I do find it odd there is such a heavy leaning on Christmas in this set. I always look at these sets more as a resource then a collection. I mean with the green wings I can finally make a Cthulhu minifig without having to paint an existing piece.

I don't have much more to show at the moment; the working concept is that the soft-serve machine will be a sort of backpack attachment, the racks of missile cones will be the right pauldron, the big cone will be the left forearm and have a tube feeding from the tank on the side of the soft-serve machine, and the spoon will be the melee weapon
