I really love the creators line but I really wish they'd include animal molds and just more specialty pieces in general. Feels a bit weird to have nice current day minifigures in these sets while at the same time using brick built animals like it's still the early days of Lego.

There's something about doing the same thing with less. The new one is bigger, but at the end of the day, it's still just "a" castle, which is what the 3-in-1 gets you. It's also a bit more reminiscent of the classic Lego castles in shape.

Bought this set a few years after it was retired but I think I managed to get it without paying too much. I can't remember if I paid $40, $60, or $80 but the Gold Knight alone made it a must have even though I was pretty broke at the time. Opened the box to look at the pieces in the poly bags but never opened them or built it.

It's just so bad. I had spent my entire childhood salivating looking at the pictures of previous castles. I don't remember exactly but this might have been one of the main reasons I entered my dark age soon after.

Never owned a Falcon before and I’m really pleased with how the original actually looks in hand. It’s such a strange stylistic set that really evokes that obvious abstract Lego vibe, love that style.
I like other more modern and cleaner designed kits too but the most of the current selection seems too polished and streamlined for me, as if it’s embarrassed of having a personality since more people pay attention to it.

I don't remember a specific set because the only lego I had as a kid was a big messy jumble of several different sets in a plastic box gifted to me by one of my relatives.

I remember the characters from this set and the underwater ones very fondly. Wish I could have owned the Tron-looking UFO sets as a kid.

Unpopular opinion: there is no wrong answer

In my country the sign of plural is -k and many sites and forums talk about lego sets as simply legok.

Not just that but outside this original meaning it became a verb, which is like the the hugest brand recognition anyone can dream about. In my country you dont "play lego bricks" or "build lego sets" you just "lego". "Megyek és legozom egy picit = I go and lego for a bit"

Its like the furthest thing from its original meaning, its technically wrong on many levels, but you cant deny what a huge marketing win it is when even official lego spokesmen used it as a verb to promote events like "come to XY and lego with us"

So we just should accept that you cant dictate how the masses will use a word

According to that video interview, there are Castle features they still haven't shown off yet. For example, they teased that you can split the castle into two distinct towers, which to me suggests you could MOC a village in the middle

Lego is too slow at bringing sets to market. They'd need to get sets ready for the height of the craze to make maximum prophet. Which is extraordinarily difficult for them when video games in the current year are flavors of the month. Sometimes not even a month. Sometimes it's one or two weeks. And it's in that short window that lego will make the decision to start a several year long process of signing contracts and getting sets to market.

Animal Crossing is a strong and old brand. I first played in on the original DS in the early 2000s, but there might even have been gameboy color or advanced versions. It's been around a while. Beside the point. I'm saying lego would ideally have released animal crossing sets in tandem with the most recent release. E.v.e.r.y.o.n.e. was playing it. It's my original one. Stickers did not survive. Generally this blimp is fragile and it was packed in box where front and rear stick out so many of them were already damaged in transport when they reached stores back in 1999-2000

2 minifigs 258 pieces for $25 in 2004, that would be $38 usd with inflation today

today a licensed set, like the Republic Fighter Tank with 3 figures and 234 pars retails for almost $40 usd.
And a non-licenset set like the Lunar exploration also with 3 figures and 250 parts is also $40 usd.

Huh, guess lego prices really did not increase as much as I thought... they are just focused on making 1 really detailed vehicle instead of a playset.

back in the early 00's I saw a lot of that from the old train guys, many of them would incorporate lego buildings into their model train displays. I haven't seen that kind of stuff in a long time though, they're probably all dead now.
