Dart Zone donated a couple of new blasters for the Foamfest raffle at the end of July. Looks like the Tomcat is a scaled-up Deuce with a Tomahawk style drum and the Vulcanator's box art suggests it'll fire from alternating barrels, like the Rhino-Fire. Both appear to have N-Strike compatible stock attachment points.

They've got the Hurricane, Max Attack and Crossbow in 'modern' X-Shot but they had the Thundershot in their early days, which held shells in its magazine, like the Buzz Bee Hawk or Rapid Fire Tek. But I just noticed there's a red Hurricane in the first image so I guess they're not redesigning their magazine system. Unless the magazine is slightly wider (photo is too low res to tell), everything except the colour is identical to the previous release.

sillybutts made an almost completely printed caliburn. only hardware necessary is the spring and barrel iirc.

there was also some nerd on yt who made a printed WSPR PT using a rolled-up flat sheet of printed plastic to line the inside of the tube. the thing is, you need a smooth glass print bed for it to work properly, otherwise you run into bumpiness issues.

it's definitely possible, probably not practical atm.

this is true but I'm in australia and people don't generally walk around with guns. I did try taking my bow out to the local (completely empty) football oval once though and a cop showed up after about 15 minutes. was pretty funny. Luckily she thought so too. I still had to pack it up and go home though.

Pretty much all of them have proprietary mags. I wish people would pick a standard and stick with it, rather than requiring people to buy a whole new set of mags for each pistol. Worker have their slimmer angled Talons specifically designed for mag-in-grip pistols so there's even less excuse to go proprietary now.

It's been a nightmare, from what I've seen. Referee consistently making wrong calls and getting aggressive with players, constant camera/mic problems, the MK1.2 barely works and the Dart Zone guy hosting is clearly uncomfortable in front of a camera.

Yeah. The Chinese manufacturers didn't get the message that making 1:1 replicas of firearms was the reason airsoft got banned so they just reworked their airsoft blasters to fire gel balls. Australian government went too far as usual and classified every single gel blaster as a firearm.

It was one of the two Rochester teams, can't remember which one since they were both in the final. Dart Zone and Drac both privated their streams after the tournament ended. Dart Zone's Instagram briefly had a joke about the constant disputes but have removed it. Seems that both realised it was a shitshow and are waiting for people to forget about it.

So weird Hasbro is getting into the firearms market*, but I guess times are tight for even toy companies.

$80 seems a bit much for a pistol gel blaster. Look at how much that stock bends. Look at how the model is awkwardly holding onto the faux foregrip. There has been some talk that Hasbro might go propietary with the gel balls themselves, using a different diameter ball than the rest of the market. I mean, this thing is going to be TINY. I think I would rather get a Nebula Pro for a few more dollars if I was in the market for a gel blaster primary.

From what I've seen, the Motoblitz is pretty good aside from it looking hideous. No clips, no glue, no shitty plastic springs. The shotgun part is apparently pretty easy to modify as well, although you won't get ridiculous power out of it.

If you need it to be bolt action, I hear ultra pharoah with the half dart kit is pretty solid. That new DZP Jurassic Park gun is nice too, but it'd need a paint job to remove the branding if that bothers you. Put a scar barrel on either for bonus 1337 5n1p3r points too

There's an almost-AWP in the Nerf Fortnite line. The bolt doesn't work the same way but it mostly looks the part, with the deformed barrel not being a particularly difficult fix.
Alternatively, if you've got deep pockets and are willing to build it yourself, there's an AWP body kit for the Retaliator (and Worker Prophecy) that looks nicer.

The stock looks quite sturdy, actually. It's got two shell halves, like the Slingfire or Cam stocks. Although the stock not being adjustable is annoying for a £100 blaster. Hopefully it's a separate assembly from the rest of the blaster shell so it can be replaced with something better.

I picked up an old Longshot CS-6 and I have a question about clip compatibility.

Is it compatible with generic modern N-Strike mags? I know it came with Streamline Darts and predates the N-Strike branding, but the wiki page specifically says the yellow revision aded support for Elite darts so I'm assuming the mags are fine too?

Better question, is there a big cheat sheet for clips somewhere?

it will be able to run both full length streamlines and elites without any modification aswell as nstrike full length mags
elite darts are more or less just better made streamlines
more or less if the mag fits into the magwell it should work

in a broad sence there are only a diffent couple of mags regular full lenght (streamlines, elites, and most waffles), then talons, angled talons, and katans

You mean like a self-priming auto/semiauto springer? Too complex, and requires a sturdy mechanism that can't be printed out or made with off the shelf parts. Caliburns are extremely simple, and all the hard wearing parts (tubing, plunger, truss rods, spring) are store bought. Everything else is just cosmetics.

I've been looking for the scope for ages. It's a shame that Vortex died (and the knockoff discs aren't very good) but the Vigilon is fun for plinking. I wish Hasbro would reuse that drop-down internal magazine design, although I can see how it might cause issues with cylindrical or spherical ammo.

My guess is the ammo counter is controlled by the board above the pusher arm and the board next to the magazine detector (which would work with any mag). But because Hasbro put dumb bumps on the backs of all their higher capacity magazines, they wouldn't be able to fit inside this shell anyway without sacrificing some screen accuracy. At least the Boba Fett and Destiny blasters are coming with replacement shells. Sucks that Hasbro wouldn't charge us an extra $10 for two more mags.

Picked up my Aliens Blaster from EB in Sydney yesterday. Was rather surprised as I didn't think it was due for release for a few months yet.

Overall, it's nice enough. Don't think it's worth the premium price. The sound effects are underwhelming and don't match what I'd expect it to sound like. The ammo counter isn't the most accurate. I've held down the trigger until the counter hits zero, then pulled the trigger again and had another dart fire out. Range and power are about what I'd expect. Colour is quite bright. I understand why they didn't go for a realistic colour scheme, just a shame they went with such a bright alternative.

If they pull the Mando routine and do a version without the speaker or ammo counter, and a cheaper price I'd probably recommend that over the Limited version.

Although that may read quite negative, I do quite like it. It's the only real option I have for an M41A1 that I can play with so I'll take it and be thankful, but I just wish they had tweaked a few things.

Also haven't been in a Nerf Fight since before Covid kicked off.

i was thinking of getting a Fire Rat purely cause I'm Australian, Gel Blasters are targeted and it looks like it might be fun to shoot around the house. Not sure if it'll get through customs though.

That or i could finally finish that Woozi i got a friend to print the shell for me

I really hope they do this, it seems like such an easy way to make more money for them as they just have to strip out the lights and sounds. Although I've still never seen the cheapo version of the mando rifle...

The idea, in theory, is to just use 2-3 AA-sized Li-ion batteries in place of alkalines, no other modding required. 2 for 7.2 V, or 3 for 11 V and a performance boost. But I thought Li-ions can't take high amps, that's why everyone recommends Li-poly? Will they explode? Will the motors melt? Is it really that simple? What's the catch?

With li-ion, the voltage is kinda there, but the discharge and current for a lot of them are definitely way below specs for what hobby-grade motors need so way slower than a lipo pack in terms of torque and rpm. Stock nerf circuits and battery trays are also piss poor at handling any upgrades so the actual performance gain will be further reduced

I never had any nerf guns as a kid but I did have this one lever-action rifle toy that didn't really do anything but make a loud-as-fuck dryfire noise when you pulled the trigger. Ordered a Slingfire off ebay the other day and getting to relive those childhood memories while also plinking around the house feels so good.
