That's why you can find excesses of dirt-cheap 90's toys that people speculated on, but ended up being worthless, and you can basically by for their ORIGINAL retail from the 90's.
They're not something you invest in expecting bull and bear runs (like precious metal, stocks, crypto, etc) collectibles can tank and never recover, or only marginally recover.
I'd say treat it like some of those other commodities, though; Keep some things "just in case" they go higher, but also sell some things if they get to really crazy amounts, and then use that capital to reinvest, even if it is in other collectibles.
