LUGS voted for it last year with Lugbulk. Thats why theres a ton out there. They shouldnt be on bricklink though, The whole point is that the Lego we get through it is used for shows and conventions. I ended up with 25 of each part and gradually been buying classic heads to army build them.

Lugbulk lets you order direct from Lego in large amounts. They get a list each year. Last year had road plates on it for instance so most groups voted and ordered that part. Orange spacemen was 2020 sorry. All four parts you see in my pic were on the list orderable.

Lugbulk is supposed to be for personal use however retards ruined it by selling it. Due to that last year and This year Lego started limiting the fig parts we could order. The only cool thing this year was a full castle torso legs and helmet (spear and sword too) could be ordered so theres gonna be a fuckload of them on the aftermarket too and Lego will prob clamp down to no figs next year!

The "CD content" download links are broken, you could email BMP and ask them to fix the links.
Assuming this is the CDs I think it is, there's 304 high quality images including lots of promo images and set images.

Well, you can count the studs and the blacksmith house alone is 16x16 studs (patio+stairs add another 6 studs). The house in the castle is 12x12. The storeys are equally tall (6 bricks). The blacksmith is as tall as the castle (2 full storeys + roof with extra room)

42121 Heavy Excavator fucking sucks. The articulation on the arm is the worst, it doesn't have steering, and has plenty of space for a function gearbox instead of two knobs. It's overpriced for the pieces you get. The little skid steer however is a *fantastic* little set for 8 bucks. The function-to-price ratio of that one makes a lot more sense. Best technic set this season is probably 42139 All Terrain Vehicle. Accurate gearbox, tons of functional parts like gears, diffs, and frames, and with a few color swaps looks excellent. Pic related is heavily modded but is in-essence exactly the same.

The John Deere is overpriced and basically function-less. Same with the Jeep. It's just license-fodder. Go to rebrickable if you want to make compelling farm equipment.

a hinge will almost always add a gap unless they're pic related, but even then it might not be able to move as much, plus the parts are discontinued and have been for a long ass time

If you run out of antistuds just use half of the hinge to fill the gap. For the front where it is too skinny you can use pic related

You're right.
Turn the wing tips upside down (which obviously requires switching the left/right) and instead of the 1x1 plates with a stud and the clip sticking off the end, instead use the 1x1 plate/tile things that have a clip on top in place of the stud
Might look weird but less gap

There will always be someone with money willing to buy a set for a specific price. Some are ok with 200% mark up and some are ok with a 2% markup. Even in your Le Doomer /pol/fag scenario, there will still be people with tons of extra cash, even if its "worthless", and tons of people selling sets for said worthless cash. In the other event, basically from a flood of scalpers we'll see stuff less in stores, OR prices will go down for some themes and sets because more people have one to scalp so more competition in prices for people trying to offload a set and make a $10 profit on a $60 investment.

I want ET and Beetlejuice. I remember seeing them for $5 each and I dont know why I didnt get them. I think it was the fact that Warner Bros basically cancelled the game right after the second series came out. Fukin idiots. Also at the time I wasnt feeling some of the themes like Adventure Time (gay) and Goonies (Proto Boomer theme). And stuff like Mission Impossible and A-Team just seemed like a really far reach like "they're trying to get the Proto Boomer audience but most of those people dont even own a video game console". that's an awesome build. Representing licences with purist LEGO is awesome, it's got the same sort of soul as early 2000's MOCs. Representing something recognizeable with the finite pallette of LEGO is really what gives it that charm.

and here they are now, still a bit wet. soaked twice in the Clorox 2 for 1 hour then ~2-3. I don't think this actually counts as color safe bleach but it was the closest thing I could find, and I'm happy with the result. I did have to finish off that little brown spot on the smaller sail with the smallest touch of bleach on a magic eraser I immediately went back to try and absorb. drying them under some books to flatten them out now.

Here we are dry. Some of the fade came back on the main sail and 1 other, but the others might as well be new. There was a little bit of fraying introduced on the bottom right of the flag with the skull and bones that wasn’t there before. Not sure what stressed it enough to do that, I’ll just be a little gentler next time.

the connections are really impressive, angled wing and the engine cover is fixed really well, a lot of kudos to the designer who made it

I've been buying Technic sets almost exclusively for their MOC potential or neat alt-builds, LEGO's official sets just haven't been all that good for the last few years.

The Porsche was a god awful looking set, but I picked it up entirely because someone made a 10/10 Lancia Stratos out of it.

I generally have no idea what original theme set Lego is even going to do next. With the exception of Chima and Ninjango, these homebrew sets just never pull in the big numbers compared to Star Wars and now Marvel/DC.

Castle sets are mostly about
troops, kings, fortifications and siege equipment. This set is almost like something you would see from a city set. A little slice of life of everyday people. Only it is set in a medieval time. I’d love for lego to do a new castle theme that is that entirety. Just not!city medieval. Substitute the cops for lion knight/guards and robbers for forestmen.

I really should get the 2 sets I'm missing from the first wave too. The haunted house is a no go not paying $900 hobbit dollars and not keen on the zombie set because the only one being sold locally is $300ish.

It's bitter sweet, Star Wars is probably what kept Lego afloat when they almost went broke back in the late 90's/early 2000's, but it certainly came at the cost of a little bit of their soul.

I think licensed sets have been a net positive though as we have seen great themes of Lego's own creation during that time, as well as really strong sets in non-licensed themes, the revenue generated has been put back into non-licensed production.

I will concede it's getting a little ridiculous though, (also Technic is suffering massively as a result of licensing bullshit, no B models, stickers out the ass, cancelled sets etc) I wonder how much of Lego's revenue is from licensed sets these days and how much of their lineup is licensed sets, it's well over 50%.

I also want to replace the azure with a different color, it looks really easy to do.

I can swap it with black right away, and I'm one part off of doing it in red. I think red would look great. Black is fine too, if a little plain.

Most of their original themes were just Generic versions of IPs anyway. Every Dinosaur line has been a jurassic park knock off, Adventures was indiana jones, Hidden side was trying to be stranger things/ghost busters which they now have any way. Space's original branding was obviously trying to cash in trek/wars with "space the final frontier" being on advertisements. Ninjago at this point is super sentai but i think its actually more popular than sentai/power rangers.

Sure the Explorers vs Natives lines were original, but fairly repetitive compared to each other. Atlantis, Mars mission, Power miners, pharohs quest etc.

Theme consolidation makes sense. They spend less on advertising and developing a brand to sell these sets that way. Licenses pay for them selves with the extra price of sets, And they also advertise themselves with fans of the licence. A core of ninjago, city and friends with one extra experimental line to potentially draw in new audiences makes sense. a proper space line would be cool though.
