Anyone got any good stories about working at a toy store or hobby shop? Been working at one for awhile and need to know if 70% of the customers being weird is normal

All I know is never go into a toystore if you are after a collectible which has rare variant, because chances are the staff have already taken and bought it.

A good 50% of the staff at my work buy Funko pops, and when you only get a box of 6 of one particular thing, you know that shit is gone before it's even put onto the shelf.

When I was a kid, whenever I wanted a toy, but mom said no or I was worried about it being sold out, I would take it off the shelf and hide it somewhere in the store until mom could buy it for me. It worked 9 times out of ten until she figured out what I was doing and told me to stop. Did anyone else ever do something like that?

Worked in a toy store and in a comic book store, and yes, 70% of the customers are weird, and majority of them are assholes to the boot. People think you get happy and fun customers in hobby stores, but that is bullshit.

That's pretty much just the case for all of retail.
From experience I'd say from best to worst it goes : book stores > hobby shops > clothing > liquor stores.

Watch out for card-rippers.
It was a common thing to see at shops where collectors tore up the card of a rare figure so it wouldn't be valuable anymore.
