Maybe if they actually continues to release Indy sets... Star Wars is recycled every fucking year, so is Harry Potter. Indy had one run with 2 waves of sets - original trilogy and Skull.. then absolutley fucking nothing. They never revisited it, they never did anything apart from Solo/Indy gift set. Meanwhile star wars is getting new Xwing and Falcon every 3 years. How Many Hogwart's trains we got already? 6?

Jurrasic World more like, and even then it sucks. It's just oversized vehicles vs dino molds. Indy sets at least had potential for tombs, ruins, exploration. If they don't want to bring adventurers then just bring Indy back.

That's what I'm talking. If Jurrasic World or any other theme had sets like this that would be sweet.
Mayan ruins could be bigger (sacrifice that helicopter - it ruins the immersion of isolation, keep jeeps) but this set is still awesome. One of the best recent stand-ins that oozes raw adventure.

Hell, even the smallest set with buggy already teased exploration of ancient ruins and had sense of danger with this red spider.

It's a roll of the dice almost every time; it depends on a few things:

As a buyer, I never haggle, I either pay the price or I don't (though I love when stores give a free shipping incentive on large orders, it works / gets me every time).

As a seller, I do haggle if it's a very large order. Generally for large sets, I offer free shipping which is ~$20+ value.

I've also have people ask "hey if I spent $500 will you give me a %10 off coupon for the order" and for things like that, my response is usually yes.

In other words, yeah, it's worth a try for huge orders, but if someone haggles for like a sub $100 you're wasting everyone's time - I don't even respond to that. Sellers are usually happy to see a bulk deal for a little bit of discount.

As a buyer I always negotiate because 1) it costs nothing and 2) not negotiating from either buyer/seller position is just limp-noodle-brain IMO. The benefits outweigh the absolute marginal effort, even if most times it's a no. I only buy bulk lots and I'm offering hundreds of dollars most-every time I make a deal, so saving 25-75 bucks every once in a while *just for asking* is a no-brainer. As another anon mentioned the best way to realistically negotiate is to offer to buy many multiple items from their inventory at a bulk rate. For example, on FB marketplace right now I've negotiated a deal on a seller's entire lot of technic - he had them listed for $250+ total - and I'm grabbing them for $120, just because I said it's either everything and he gets to pack up shop, or nothing and he gets to haggle with FB tards for another three months and have half the sets left over as trash.

YMMV but the other important point is to always know the valur of what youre buying. Depending on the seller and how much of yoir own intentions you want to reveal, you can let them know their listings are unrealistic and provide a reasonable offer. Some Lego sellers are waiting for some hypothetical, oblivious retard that doesn't exist to swoop in and buy their shit for some stupid rate, so this tactic can also self-filter you. It's all about profiling the seller and picking a tactic that most exploits that particular archetype. /lg/'s resident trainfag here, didn't see your posts when I posted >>9887771 so I'll chime in now.

First off decide what scale you're going to be building your trains in. 6-wide is what Lego uses for its sets but tends to be too small for replicating actual trains. 7-wide is common among UK/Euro train builders, while 8-wide is most popular among US train builders. That's not to say you can't mix and match depending on what you're building, you just gotta find your preference. Pic related is an example of something in 6 wide, 7 wide, and 8 wide. Once you settle on a size you want your build(s) to be then you can move onto planning for everything to be consistent.

Second, for trains you're gonna need to utilize a lot of SNOT building in order to not end up with a box on wheels. Even something as simple as making a faux door by having it recessed in the wall by half a stud or so adds a bunch of detail to a model. Basically, try to think outside of the box more with your builds.

You're not gonna like the answer. If you're trying to stay inside the ecosystem of Lego i.e. you don't want to be told to get a better job, it's gonna involve a lot of second-hand dealing to accrue an inventory worth selling. Otherwise you're basically stuck going group orders or ordering from lego directly. You can also keep an eye out for parts-mule sets that have a lot of what you want, but you're going to be selling this shit you're not using if you're actually worried about cost.

It does mathematically require that the ball joint, which is in the centre of the hinge block, stays on the axis of the axle, however the movement of the hinge moves it horizontally. You could probably get away with a fine range of adjustment in practice though.

Original isn't worth it anyway. For completionist sake (aka you want some Arkham jumpsuits), get the Batman Movie version. I'd say the second one visually is better, it's just a lot smaller although some of those old Monster Hunter sets look like good padding out for it.

I figured keep them separate. Less structural/balance concerns, and easier to move between levels.
The rooms themselves though are made to be modular, connected with pins, so I can also use all the different sections for whatever else I want.
I'll likely work on making a bunch of generic furniture pieces next to populate it with.

I agonized over this for a little bit, and decided to go with 4x4 for 5 feet.
A 3x3 stud square is almost exactly perfect for a standard 1 inch grid that most games use, but would be so much more obnoxious to build around, and going with 4x4 as the standard gives me a lot more space to build monsters around.
Also doors are way easier this way, too.

I’ve been working on the second floor, and I need some insight

What’s the best way to go at a roof? I was thinking using hinge pieces (like ones used for minifig computers) with plates on top to fill in the sides without windows.

If anyone else has better ideas, feel free to shoot them my way.

Pretty much the same, albeit my trays pull out of my shelving, so I just spread the trays out and sort 80%~ of it straight into the trays, the other 20%~ tends to be specialized pieces which go into a temp tray then are sorted in much the same way, just with all the specialized piece trays spread out instead.

Genuinely considering building an automated picker and sorter setup in the next few years as it's just too laborious to do by hand with big bulk lots.

I sorted by color first, scooping a pile from the container onto a work surface and then into many small containers. When they are full I empty them into their respective container.

Now that I am doing by part, I basically go color by color pulling out a single part type until I have gone through all the colors, and then move on to the next type. I scoop bricks from the first tub onto the work surface, and then keep a tray on my lap into which I put the parts that are not what I am looking for, and then pick the ones I am looking for out and put them in their own container on my left. Once I am done the parts from the tray go back in the original container.

Has anyone ever filled up a bathtub with Lego and laid down in it and let the Lego cover their body? I have the idea that filling a bathtub with smaller Lego pieces, like 1x1 and 1x2 bricks and plates, and then laying down naked in it and moving arond and letting the Lego move all over your body would be so pleasing. Depends on the piece.

Large parts almost always cost more on pick a brick (like undesirable large wedges, some big bricks, stuff like that can cost $1-2), but avg price on BL can be like 50 cents.

For small stuff, like small plates, tiles, etc, are almost always cheaper on pick a brick (if they are in stock). Things like a 1x1 could be 5-7 cents on pick a brick but cost 12 cents plus on BL. Some minifig accessories are also cheap.

It's a bit of a crapshoot, it really does go part by part. You have to get a feel for it. Not everything is available on pick a brick either. Their selection was greatly reduced with the removal of bricks and pieces.

Between Target, Kmart, and Big W, the only thing I can find for $5 are the 'character packs' which aren't on clearance. The ones under $20 seem to be mostly suits for Mario which are single-use parts. If you have no interest in Lego Mario I see no purpose for those. Bowser's Ship is $108 in Target which may be good if you want ship parts.

Even if you don't use it to actually buy things, it will ALWAYS be your best gauge as to the actual market value of something and will typically be the cheapest you can find anything.

If I can find something out in the wild at, or lower than Bricklink prices, it's always a good indicator that it's a decent price.

Usually you should add the parts to your wanted list, and then go into said wanted list & click "buy all" which will find stores with all the items and at the cheapest price
I'd recommend shopping domestically before going int'l even if the part seems more expensive domestically, as the shipping & fees are where things actually matter
A minifig could cost $3 in Germany, but with shipping and fees you'll be paying $25, whereas the same minifig is $8 in your country and shipping/fees will be like $3

Hi anons, first time posting here. Partner got the latest Batman tumbler set (the huge one), and I'm thinking about making a basic display case for it. Just something to protect it from dust.

I've never cut through acrylic sheets, and thick kraft boards are easy to work with, but they seem too flimsy to make a base.

There are smaller cases at Aliexpress, which could be nice for his minifigs, how's the quality? Should I get an original base plate and my own clear box or are these knockoffs ok?

What probably happened is you saw the subtotal, went to order, and then the flat rate got added to your actual total. There are two part libraries for online Pick A Brick - best seller and standard. I think unless you surpass that piece-value threshold the charges are 5 bucks and 7 bucks respectively. Just make sure you're either ordering only best seller or only standard, and get enough pieces to drop the flat rate. That's my guess but depending on where you're located shipping might just be much higher than their calculated average.

Ideas have rejected 8 of my submissions due to issues with the sourcematerial. Like I did an bastion overwatch set idea before they actually made an overwatch set and they said that due to the games VIOLENT NATURE, they wouldn't make it. Same with several anime or cartoon based ideas or even just remakes of old IPs they haven't touched in 10 years, and they denied it with the "no remakes of already existing sets" excuse.

I got tired of trying while literal fantasyless dust collector ideas get approved.

It wouldn't. The reason chima nexo ninjago monkie are the way they are is so they can have free reign to create all manner of whacky retarded oversized vehicles. With a straight up castle line, even if fantasy, at most they could do a couple carriages and catapults on wheels. Anything else would ruin the medieval fantasy appeal but unfortunately that's the only thing that sells. Hidden Side flopped hard without being vehicle centric. Even Monsters Fighters had to shoehorn some steampunkish vehicles they couldn't sell sets entirely focused on the monster dwellings

I don't know why lego lost is ability to be creative.
Remember I had the "witches magic manor" set from the 90s when I was a kid. The which freaking had a magic helicopter where the rotors were dragon wings.

Planes could be replaces by brickbuilt dragons and griffins.
In dnd there are lot of steampunkish/magicpunkish elements that could be used like flying ships too.

For land vehicles there are battering rams or siege towers

Not just that, the other thing is that for an unlicensed theme to sell it needs a companion tv cartoon which means the theme needs to focus on a couple characters, not armies. A set with a couple random human soldiers and orcs is not gonna cut it, it needs a hero. And it can't be any hero, no mustachio men like johnny thunder, it needs to be a zoomer friendly kid/teen character with quips that can carry a kids tv show.

There's just to many obstacles in the way of a good castle theme

Yeah they had to be moved so I had desk space. I need to do some heresy with a dremel on the axl torsos to make my desired helmet fit I only really like nk for the axl minifig the queen was cheap and macy came with an axl. I'm annoyed I'm going to need to spend another $26+s&h for the spartan helmet from atlantis unless I find the set for a reasonable amount because I'd use it for a adventures moc

This is the design I came up with, smallest I can think of it while retaining the form. Still last I checked Space Marine bolters are larger anyway so that's how I cope with it being a bit larger for minifigs

Yikes. I'm glad I got the resistance falcon instead. That's my problem with Star Wars Legoeus, is that with City or Adventure or anything I love the old sets but with Star Wars I just don't like the old ships because of how odd they look.

It absolutely does, similar colours used for the woodwork and stonework, similar level of greebling, even the design of the woodwork is similar.
