>>9898257I think modern 5POA stuff that is trying to capture that "retro" style is missing is they're coming at it from a fundamentally wrong mindset. With stuff like ReAction or the new retro style Star Wars figures from Hasbro, they're trying to make the figures look worse because they think that is what retro is, but actual retro stuff from the 70s through to the 90s were trying to push the boundaries of what was possible. The reason Kenner's Star Wars figures had such soft sculpts was they genuinely believed that intricate detail was not possible in the manufacturing process at that scale, so they were trying to avoid parts breaking off in the moulds, as time went on they kept trying to add more and more detail waiting for the process to fail.
So it's the ideology of trying to fit into a box vs trying to push beyond that box.
They also keep making all the figures with just straight limbs when really even going back to original Kenner Star Wars the figures had a certain level of pre-posing.
