Maybe but I don't like writing off people like that, sometimes people here are just really bad at explaining their opinions and it comes off like weird bait.
I will say I almost agree with him, at least when it comes to the 2.0s, the only ones I was personally interested in was the goblin.

I've seen people on facebook as for over $100 for Jjuno, Hera is the leader of the good guys in the Poxxus wave, and deer is the goddess of the forest guys.

There's a good chance they're saving Jjuno and Deer Goddess for v2 releases, similar to why Otho hasn't been put back into the rotation. But I agree Hera should've been on the ballot.

I can see why Faustia made it though. While on her own she's not that interesting of a character (I say despite buying her myself), in relation to the figures that came out in the Arethyr wave, she is a great troop builder addition to the Red Shield subfaction. She's a great figure to compliment Hadriana, either as her second in command or as her elite guard if you bought multiples.

I'd say similar too, if not better in some aspects to the current Masterverse stuff. Their biggest weakness is in the arms, as armor or bulging muscles can get in the way of range of movement, especially on the older guys. They are fun to mess with, and their great leg and ankle articulation can get them in some very dynamic stances. But their limited arm movements can hamper their posing a lot.

It also changes slightly based on build used. Bare arm/bare torso will have less range of motion then armor torso/bone arms, and the 2.0 figures have flat out more range in their arms due to slimmer sculpts, even though they all have the same joint set up.

They won't be getting into revoltech/eastern style extreme action poses, but for dudes in heavy armor, they can pull off plenty of motion.

....except Dwarves, they can't really do much.

I'd put them in the middle of most western 6-7 inch lines.
Hasbro and McFarlane might be able to make a far more posable figure than Mythic Legions can; but they often fall short of them, too.

Black Series Jaina Solo has an amazing range of movement that approaches Japanese imports at a $20 figure price. Yet figures like Hela have a pretty lackluster range of movement, and the Overwatch figs I have pose terribly despite having the same or more joints than a Mythic Legion.

Honestly, I've pretty much stopped buying Marvel and Star Wars, and just stick to Mythic Legions.

The head really ruins that one for me, otherwise I'd be on board.
It just looks too small and out of place, something more reptilian like with a longer snout would have been better imo.

They are certainly not going to be the most flexible dudes in your collection and they are notably unable of two handed sword poses at all except for the females and slimmer males. The lack of vertical wrists also hurts. On the other hand, at least they have a ball waist/torso joint and decent range in the hips, so they are generably able to get a number of natural action poses.

At the end of the day they are knighs and buff dudes and posing them in natural action poses is not as frustrating as trying to get some superhero figures in kurazy poses.

Not sure if I love this or hate this, it's neat that they used that multiarm trick the community has been doing for awhile but also dislike the phone dial chest and the extra eyes feel weird.
I might consider getting this for a kitbash, I feel like I could make something I like using all those blue limbs.

That's fair. I think a lore lizard or crocodile or dragon head would have been better too, but I really wanted a good lizardman figure in general. Plus there's always a chance to get a custom head and do a little joyrigging later on. The change to get a white figure is pretty exciting too.

This is pretty badass, and entirely unexpected. There's a long list of potential MotU figures they could make and I don't think anyone had Webstor anywhere near the top of the list. I like the vamp head as it makes the figure unique and it is similar to the original look, but I agree an alt skull should have been included. That and his accessories are the only things I'm not fond of. The corded mace is fantastic (though I'll probably swap that string for a bendy wire) but that knife just looks awful in a single solid color. I mean, it has no other relation to his original gear, so why not give it colors to make it less garish?

Regardless, I still want him in my collection, so I'm hoping some of the figures still yet to be revealed are good so I don't have to pay shipping for just one figure.

man, I'm torn on this guy. Really nice helmet and I'm a sucker for the "forest knight" aesthetic with armor and green cloth, but on the other hand the torso and upper limbs are parts I have so many of already. Maybe the cloth skirt will make him a bit more unique.

I don't mind the soft goods one but I think it looks out of place though that could be because I'm too used to the plastic ones at this point.
But I think the contrast between the soft good tabard and normal chest is a bit jarring (for lack for a better word), if it had a different chest it wouldnt stand out as my much.
It would be cool if the figure came with both the nes soft good tabard and the old plastic one to give people a choice.

Yeah, they should give both options, especially when the tabard is supposed to look the same material top and bottom.
Even if it was different I'd still appreciate the plastic ones. It's nice that soft goods include the wire, but the fabric itself is far from top quality.

I kind of agree with him, especially since cloth torsos on legions are easily doable and can actually look good. This just feels like a half step, same reason I'm not a fan of stuff with plastic hoods and cloth capes like Vallak. The counterpoint to this is that a properly fitted piece torso sized sewn cloth gets expensive a lot faster than a 1x3 strip.

NTA or the one before but plastic hood/soft good cape is actually something I prefer because I find that a lot of the time soft good hoods don't sit correctly and can get in the way of poses if they aren't wired.

I love the concept and the new head on this guy, but the body build is fairly boring. Should've been one of the new brigadine bodies. That said, I'll probably buy him just to gloves his arms and boots to my ever changing OC Not-Elite Knight figure. I'm sure I can use the rest of the figure to make a halfway decent Elf Knight, might just make a small Wisperling team with Myria and the Deluxe Builder elf sets.

There's no way this head won't resurface during the next Horseman wave though. With the Order of Eathyron being pretty much all traditional knights, a helmet like that would fit right in.

I kind of agree with this. I bought some of the Templar loin cloths off the Max Bird site, and they just don't meld well with the plastic torsos. It's just the same situation here, where the loin cloth, as nice as it is, doesn't mesh well with the plastic torso. I feel this figure would've been far more original and interesting if it had a basic armored torso with an actual fabric tabard over it.

I know you can't actually have a full one piece tabard on these guys though, with the way the belts work. But you can fudge it close enough by doing two different soft good parts, one of the chest, one for the loin. With an armored torso underneath, it could've had a really nice effect to it.

I also agree with this. Stuff like hoods and collars just work better on figures when molded in place. Soft good hoods very rarely work at smaller scales because they never have the weight needed to sit properly on a head.

Molded hood with wired cape is just the best compromise when it comes to combining looks and playability in my opinion.

The Illithya Pre-Order closed over a year ago. They're shipping now to people who ordered them, and if you want to get figures from this wave your best bet is to wait for the in stock sale that will happen after all the pre-orders are filled.

The next sale will be the All-Star 5 wave, which is slowly being revealed now. That sale will begin at the end of the month.

The Vamps already have a ton of unique heads, as I think all but the Not-Hordak figure had a technically unique head. But Orcs are really suffering with just three options for nine different Orc figures released so far.

The Goblin and Dwarf head can be used on spare Deluxe Legion builders I guess, but they're too specific to really be used on any other figure imo. It's not like you can make a Viking figure with that Dwarf head or something, as it's still very clearly a dwarf.

The Panther and Demon heads though are only useful if you have the proper figure to go with it. I guess the Demon could use the Fury Orc or Belphegorr, or a full armored body, but it's still a limited option. The cat however, assuming you use that neck piece, needs Torrion as he's the only bare body figure with a similar flesh tone. But then you'd have a weird hooved cat man.

Overall, not a strong offering of heads and I personally have no real reasons to pick up this set.

the Hellphyre goblin makes no sense to be solo, the actual figure comes with 2 face plates, head armor, 2 tongues, and cannibalize the hands and feet. if you needed the parts, you'd get the figure instead.
the cat is fine, as the only other option was a convention exclusive, but i thought only certain bodys came with the tail slot.
dwarf and woman are hard passes, if any sculpt should have had open mouth screams, it should have been them.
The demon head used to be rare, then it got reissued, so what value does it have being here?

The Cat head has been used at least three times now, twice with the minotaur neck added. Only the current red release is set to be a con exclusive.

The Goblin head works because it's the new Hellphyre goblin head in original Bog Goblin colors. It's good for people who have the original, but want the tongue head as an option.

Demon head is only special because it's in a traditional red. Lots of fans wanted a basic red demon, especially after Xarria came out.

The female head is just a ginger version of the Gwendolyn(blond)/Delphina(black haired) head.

The Dwarf head is really the ONLY unique head reuse, as the only other figure it was used on was a wave 1 Dwarf.

The pack overall still features too many character/figure specific heads though, and fills spots that didn't need filling to begin with.

Alt Hellphyre repainted as Boggy was expected at some point anyway, but i wasn't expecting it here.
I wanted a black cat. Now I don't need to paint Purrplor.

Red demon because Jeremy needs to Fury clan everything. And the colour doesnt even match Belphegorr. Probably matches red Krampus though, which you can't buy from 4H directly and is exclusively through their retail partners. Funny.

Apart from the vamp and the Boggy, there is no reason to army build this.
No bones.
No knights.
Most importantly, none of the 2.0 knight helmets resized into 1.0. It's only been how many years since they said that during and after the Kickstarter? But hey, at least we got those evergreen legion builders finally. 4H always keep their word.

To be fair the said was same about the Arethyr wave and aside from the Arethyr, the red shield knight and the horse-two pack most of the other stuff stayed in stock for a decent amount of time.
If I remember right Arethyr's horde lasted the longest and I imagine it'll he the same for this horsemens horse.

So apparently this head was added because of the factory fuck up with the Sir Girard skeleton head being included with the retail release.

Maybe they should have used the leather bracers and boots with him. The shoulder pads do help a bit, but the 2.0 body desperately needs similar body types 1.0 got in Illythia.

War of the Aetherblade don't have leather armor. They have the basic, boring metal armor parts. It's a huge missed opportunity as far as I'm concerned because in the end it means the only difference between the male and female builders are the torso and head options. They really should've used the bare limb/leather set on the female Elf at the very least to make her a more unique figure. They used the bare limbs on the Femorc so we know they were an option. but completely ignored the leather gloves and boots.

......I still bought a bunch of em though, because I'm weak. But mostly because I intend to use em for mix and match parts. But having the leather gloves and some more bare limbs mixed in would've been a really nice option.

Cloth, chainmail, and more buff/meaty bare arms and legs would be great.
As for chests, something similar to the doublet/gambison like from Ilythia, along with a Robin Hood type rogue shirt would be my first choice.

Those older toys just seem antiquated compared to some of the new stuff, and it's a really odd decision to be mixing em all together in a sale like this. I feel they should've had more "All Star" figures for sale in this wave and split all the original figures into it's own standard wave.

I suspect that they originally planned AS5 to include the trolls, but due to larger figures being produced in a different factory, plus their excessive postage costs, they decided to do it this way.

I had intended on putting Zende, the mage from the Poxxus wave, with my Clan Bear to act as a loner scout type character, but Duban fits that role much better. So I'll most likely end up using Zende for parts and making some new characters out of him or something.

On the flip side, the Sons of the Red Star are straight up mercenaries. While their official ranks are very hodge podge random characters...though mostly skeletons. My version of the faction has a rule that the figure has to have some sort of red on them to be a member. Once those Legioncon exclusive figures come out, I'll be mixing and matching them into my Red Star team.

I'm kind of surprised as well, guess they want to do a special release of him or something. While the horse is pretty cool, and the 4H horses *are* very nice, I can pass on it pretty easily. Space is already an issue and I have plenty of mounts as is.

I guess the final order from this wave for me is Okeaetos, Duban, the elf guard and the goblin. Not a bad group and enough to make shipping worth it. Not-Stratos is still a strong maybe though, especially if he's priced like normal figures as >>9944859 suggests.

If that was the case things do change once stock dries up and new fan enter a line, a good example of this is the Marvel Legends Rogue who wasn't that rare when she first released and even shelf warmed in places but once that stock was gone and more Jim Lee style X-Men started coming out the demand shot up and so did the prices.

They ship from the US. If you are 'Merican you just pay their national shipping and probably VAT and that's it. I've heard their shipping prices are higher than other sites, but reasonable.

If you are European, their shipping prices are all fucked up, starting at like $30 iirc (they used to be even higher for a while!). Then the import fees are your local VAT on the price of the figures plus whatever amount your customs office wants to charge you for their hard work in doing the paperwork. In Spain they've lately been charging a fixed amount of 15€ plus the proper VAT of the figures from what I've seen. Buying a couple figures ($70 price total) would easily result in around $40 shipping + 15€ VAT + 15€ import managing fees, about as much as the figures themselves.

If a wave has three or four figures I'm interested on I go ahead, but the costs are retarded for smaller orders.

Honestly, I would've preferred a different type of face as well, mainly because he's already so similar to Zende from the Illythia wave I thought it was reused at first. After comparing the two, it's clear it's a new face, but there's too many similarities it's almost silly.

I can't really compare them to NECA much as I only have very few NECA figures, but the Legions have...mixed...articulation.

Right off the bat, their arms are their most limited point of articulation. With heavy armor and bulky torsos, they can only get so much range of motion in their single swivel hinge elbows and swivel disc shoulders. Figures with less bulk, like skeletons and especially the 2.0 figures can get more flex, but the bulkier 1.0 builds can have issues two handing weapons. Newer figures can often come with extra hands, and some include a vertical wrist hinge hand to help with this problem, but it's still something to note.

The next big Horsemen wave will feature traditional Knights v Skeletons, so it's expected for new armored hand options to come out with that wave that can be used on older figures.

Both the neck and the abdomen on the 1.0s and the upper chest on the 2.0s, have ball socket joints. Most get great range of motion from these and can allow for very expressive posing, but again, dudes in armor can only bend so much.

From the waist down though, it's another story. These guys have just great ranges in every joint, with the weakest being the single hinge knees which can get 45+ degree bend. But all the swivels and hinges and huge ball swivel ankles give their legs a lot of freedom. They were designed with mounts in mind, and they have no problem saddling up convincingly.

In the end, these guys are not Revoltech/Figma tier hyper articulated crazy figures. But what they do have is solid, sturdy, better then most western figures (imo) and enough to get a lot of fun out of em. Considering they were designed with part swapping in mind, their articulation is fairly solid, but there is certainly room for improvements.

Can't compare to modern Neca, haven't bought a figure from them in a while.
But you should probably check out a video review, probably the easiest way to get a good idea of it.

That's kinda vague but I kinda get what you mean, though NECA stuff varies in articulation range at least from the stuff I own.
Like the Mummy and Pizza Aliens I own move really well but my GvK Goji and Big Daddies are basically bricks with only a little bit of movement in their arms.
As others have said though Legions are a mixed bag, 1.0 have limited arms but the 2.0s ar better in that regard, I think the way the torso is handled is pretty good and I wish it was used on the Super7 tmnt figures the horsemen also sculpt.

Yeah me and my best friend are mostly about articulation we have have a few figmas and revoltechs. I wanted Vargg because I think he's cool even if it's a manlet, but my best friend said he owned three mythic legions (Templar Knight, Silver Knight, Red Shield Knight) and was so disappointed with the articulation and being unable to get them to a cool attack pose that sold them within only a few months of owning them. As much as I want Vargg I don't want a figure I'm gonna instantly hate.

Understandable, the figures aren't for everyone, if you did want to try one out though Mythic Legions are easy to sell off afterwards, I've had some figures I've bought and ended up not liking that much (a skeleton legion builder) and got double my money back.

....no offense, but your friend sounds like a poselet if he couldn't get these guys into a good looking attack pose. While their elbows may be limited, the great torso and leg articulation really give them a lot of motion. They're also super sturdy and can be moved around easily without falling apart. I mean, they're certainly not as dynamic as some Revoltech figures, but they can get into plenty of great action poses.

As for Vargg, while he does use the dwarf legs, he uses the normal size arms, so he doesn't have the even more restricted movement the dwarves have. The legs are short, but plenty poseable. If anythings gonna be an issue with him, it's gonna be those wings. They're huge, heavy and awkward. Though him being short, they'll probably hold themselves up by touching the ground, they'll still be a source of annoyance in the long run.

.....but they will look awesome.

I say pick up Vargg and see how he is in hand. At the very least, if you don't like him, you can always sell him for at least what you paid for....though usually more with these guys.

It depends on what you expect exactly. These figures have very hard limits to what they can do because of their shoulders and elbows. Like, a typical ML knight can barely touch his hands together, and a ML barbarian gets it even worse because of the bulk of the muscles. The default horizontal wrist hinge is also a huge limiting factor in a line of weapon wielding figures, and even the single jointed knees can occasionally prevent a pose you want.

I'd put it this way. You are going to run into many poses that you can't remotely do, such as holding a weapon a certain way or actually hitting something not in easy range with their dominant arm. So you have to be ok with fully discarding that pose idea and choose a completely different one that the figure can do.

The good news is that as other anons have pointed, the hips and ankles are good, and the figures have either a ball waist (dudes) or a ball mid-torso (females and twinks) joint, and this strong core of working joints will allow you to bring any natural lean and balance to the poses they can actually do, better than a Marvel Legends guy with only forward crunch for example.

So it's a specific mixed bag that may or not be to your taste. If the figure can't do a pose because of the poor arms or knees (maybe feral poses you may have in mind for the vampire), it absolutely can't and you've got to accept it. If it can, then you've got the tools to adjust the pose no problem thanks to the core of ankles, hips and torso joints.

I love the look of the figures and I can live with that, especially since they are not known characters with iconic poses that I might want to recreate.

Part of the Deluxe Legion Builder wave has arrived. Like Illythia, the basic figures came in first with the all ins and ogre stuff coming in on a different boat.

One interesting thing about this photo is that the boxes are numbered and have the figure name on them.

Gladiator: 11,448 figures
Dwarf: 10,344 figures
Goblin: 9,144

I don't know if these are the entire order for the wave, or just part of it, but it gives us an idea of the numbers.

Legion Builders are meant to be less detailed, it lowers their pricepoint to make em easier to army build. They still have all the same sculpt, articulation and accessory load outs of normal releases, they just lack the intricately done pwint jobs.

That Skeleton comes with pic related. If you want to see what each figure comes with, their website actually has an update listing of each character. You can look em up by faction, wave released or alphabetical (the checklist). They even have a listing of all the weapon types in the line and who comes with them.

While I still miss their old forums, I will admit this current website is a vast improvement over their original homepage.

I just got my Legion Builders in the mail today, haven't had a chance to open any of em yet though. Only got a handful of figures, mostly to use as custom fodder to be honest. Hopefully the Illythia stuff ships soon, but seeing as I got both horses, I'll be waiting a while on them.

Ideally, the Builder Sets will also ship out soon. I'd love to get my hands on as many in process figures as possible before I start taking updated faction pics. Both my Elves and my Lion army will be seeing huge boosts in numbers thanks to these last few waves.

Of course, so will my all encompassing evil horde, as it'll gain an entire entourage of vampires, some more Orcs and maybe even some savages (I haven't finalized where I want to put the barbarian LBs).

Eh, it's close enough, but it's not easy to find figures who can actually shoulder a rifle the right way. Still, it's nice to see these guys have a decent range of motion. Single joints can work well if the sculpt actually gives them room to move.

So I haven't gotten to opening my newly arrived legions, I have been able to mess with a bunch of capes and belts I bought off Max Bird's shop. It's amazing what some decent soft goods can do for these figures. The 4H should've been mixing overlays and soft goods onto these guys from the start, as it really hides the fact they're all using the same build parts. Also, real belts with real sheaths is just a glorious thing to have.

I don't think I've ever paid more then 6-7 bucks for shipping from Max Bird, and I usually get 3-4 items to make the most of it so it doesn't hurt too much.

As for the knights armor, it's the armor overlay stolen from the Toybiz LotR King Elendil. I found the figure at a con once for less then five bucks and scavenged a ton of gear off him. The entire original Toybiz LotR line is a gold mine for accessories and armor overlays that can be swiped and modded to fit great on the Legions. Sadly I can't say the same of the current Diamond Select offerings. The figures scale way too large yet their accessories are oddly way too spindly to actually work with the Legions. But if you can find the old Toybiz stuff for cheap, especially the mounts, they're totally worth picking up.

Well, other characters in the wave have some soft goods accesories, and the other MOTU character has six arms. As the ML line progressed, newer figures have steadily increased their value as more production costs are recouped and pieces reused, so I guess that $37 for a figure with wings, soft good or major accesories might be the new standard, at least when extensive new tooling is not required.

Despite having enough parts to qualify as a deluxe figures; full size bird wings and Ilythia skeleton Vishnu arms; 4HM decided to sell them at the basic price.

One thing I also noticed is that he's got new helmet nubs!
This is one thing I've wanted was some parts to fill in the holes in helmets for when you don't want them to have giant horns.

I noticed the neck pegs on these stay in the torso better than the Arethyr and reinforcements figures. I also didn't even need to dunk any in boiling water to get the joints moving; they were fine right out of the box.

Well I got my legion builders in the mail on the 13 and had opened a couple of them up and hadn't realized I had actually received a barbarian instead of a dark templar which is listed on my order invoice. I love this new harness, but the thing about it is that even though it looks better than the plain brown belt, it doesn't look like it's actually holding the pauldron on as good as the generic strap does.

Left looks like 2 separate parts; while right looks like the belt is actually holding the armor piece on.

I'm most disappointed in the Goblin.
Originally he was meant to come with the special 1.0 body to 2.0 head neck piece that Gonxx had.

At some point they just switched the head to be 1.0.
I was intending to keep the 1st goblin more or less the same, and do this headswap for a bargain bin Gonxx and have the new head on the smaller body.

This is all some great info, thanks for sharing anon. The Goblin being a 1.0 head is probably the most surprising news as that head is the *only* unique thing about him and people were fairly excited to have a cheap option to get that neck adapters. The rest of him is a straight up Dwarf build, which is fairly boring, so that lack of neck adapter is a huge loss.

Ironically, had I known it was a 1.0 head, I probably would've gotten one and used it on an Orc.

As for the skeleton and gladiator, those changes are both improvements to me. That visor just looks too large and unique to really work on a troop builder. Without it, the helm is more generic which fits a legion builder far better. And the Gladiator is probably the best of the bunch with it's new, unique accessories, and having bare hands/feet as a Legion Builder.

The one thing they changed I actually like is the fact that the new horns are the same size as all the old helmet decorations. Originally they were going to be smaller.

But i was being 100 % ignored. Finally i mentioned that i would pay for the fig i was sent if they would please send me the figure i paid for. Then they actually replied to me. I felt like i was paying a ransom. I highly recommend not going this route. You should get to keep the figure they sent you and have the one you actually paid for shipped for free. They pretty much burned all of my goodwill towards them buy handling my issue this way.

They actually replied back to me right away but said that they could send me the templar with a return shipping label and I could ship the barbarian back in the same box or I could send them money for the barbarian including the shipping cost and keep it and then they'd send the templar. I've had other company's send me the wrong items before and they let me keep it while shipping out the actual item I ordered . So yeah, looks like I'm going through what you did.

I find that it varies between stores, I've had to pay to return broken figures/wrong figures from amazon and another online store before but also gotten to keep broken items too or get a free return.
But yeah it does suck when this sort of thing happens, at least the first option is free and doesn't involve paying for another figure but I guess it depend if you have the time to get to a post office.

The armor of the Dark Templar is not very dark. I think the upside of this is that you can easily take a simple permanent black marker and paint the cross on the helmet, the rivets, the belts and other details over the gray and magically turn a builder figure into a regular one without needing to use real paint.

The original Templar LB was also listed as a "Deluxe" iirc, as was the original Orc (he was more expensive then the initial LBs during the first KS). The additional paint and different builds seemed to justify the Deluxe branding. That said, the whole "Deluxe" classification is just kind of random. I mean, the Elf came with three heads, all with different paint jobs, four weapons and a quiver with arrow, and he was just a basic Legion Builder. Meanwhile the Female Barbarian "Builder" figure features a plain paint job, basic three weapon assortment, three heads and extra horn pieces. But she sold for the same price as fully painted figures.

Are you the anon who suggested to sue them. That’s not going to fly.

I’m glad they actually have some procedures for this problem now. Because according to their Instagram there are actual children helping pack the boxes in their warehouse.

I’m also a little worried it will happen again. It really is a disappointing thing to happen. Especially if you’ve only ordered a couple of figures. And, after waiting what seems like years.

Pic is what they were supposed to have sent. Which i eventually got. He’s my favorite figure.

Red shield knight is what they sent. How they got that mixed up is beyond me.

Again I’m really very happy with the RSK he turned out to be a great addition to my collection. I would have never ordered him. So i guess things worked out after all.

The dwarf neck is the same style, but just has a bigger ball. Seeing as how the rest of him is straight up dwarf build, they probably just rolled with it and made the head a 1.0 piece. To me, the Goblin was the laziest realease from this wave. Other figures have at least some newer parts and pieces, they didn't even give him the longer arms Gonxx has. I'm hoping the head gets reused at some point becasuse it's the best part of him.
