Broadening this question so I can talk about how conflicting current Technic is. Lately the expense to disappointment ratio of that line has been pretty high. The 1:8 supercars - while getting more visually complex and featuring neat techniques - have also become functionally extremely boring. Other vehicles like the pullback Mustang, Camaro, Senna, and F150 look *fine* but again are functionally barren - it's just a license veneer. The worst offenders of licenseshit in Technic are the Jeep and John Deere. The JD tractor is just a huge fucking disappointment. So that's my technicfag answer, the JD fucking sucks.

On the other side of the ratio - the cheap Technic is killing it. The skid steer, telehandler, and motorcycle are amazing for the piece count and price, and the price:function ratio is much more fair and in some cases supersedes the functions of more expensive sets. Best Technic this season was the ATV - that thing has so many great parts and functions for being a mid-price set - way more fun than expected.

Lego rolled this piece of shit out knowing scrubs would buy it solely for the minifigures. I would also consider the Hulk vs. Red Hulk set, but that one at least provided rare and unique pieces MOC builders could use.

Aside from the obvious meme answers like Galidor, I think it's probably the UCS Falcon or Star Destroyers.

You spend like $900+ after taxes and receive this gigantic grey sphere/triangle that takes 50 hours to build, then you have to basically dedicate an entire table in your house to it. It will never be added to or disassembled, it just functions as a massive, decorative, breakable model in your house. For $150, you could get the playset scale one that actually just fits on a shelf and largely reflects the same ship.

If you ever do break it down for parts, despite having a ton of them, it's basically all tile and largely unusable.

They're cool at first glance, and it's neat they exist. But I would never want one.

Wanted to share a wip of a mech I’m working on. I’m missing some pieces but overall I’m happy with how it’s coming along. Currently it comes with a space M16 and shoulder mounted disposable missile launcher.

I’m planning on making instructions for my other mech builds anyways through stud.io and posting them somewhere, so this’ll just be something I’ll have to do eventually anyways. Yeah I wasnt going to bog down my response with kits that actually appeal to a reasonable price:feature ratio. Just disappointments and surprises. This truck and the upcoming Airbus hit much closer to center, but that also makes them less interesting to bring up in that context. To me that's where technic shines: $200 and under & flush with features.

I sometimes sell new sets without the box as it makes it easier and cheaper to ship them without their original box.

I usually price them slightly cheaper than any boxed version on the market, and the cheaper shipping is good for people who don't care.

Do you think battle droids would need an upgrade?

It used to be fine, and I certainly see the pros:
-the body and arms parts are highly reusable in other builds.
-the low part number makes them cheap and fun way to make enemy canonfodders for your good guy clones to destroy
-faithful to how slim battledroids look in the SW universe compared to people

but I also see the cons
-little to no articulation
-due to the rigidness of plastic that lego switched to over the deforming plastic, clips crack way more easier especially in thin walled clips like these.
-they haven't changed in 1999

I think the minimum change that suppose to happen is:
-2 separate legs instead of 1 joined leg
-better shoulder connection, maybe it could be an o ring there instead of a clip
-angled arm with vertical grip. Its really annoying that the only arm the can hold a gun up right can only hold it straight away from the face.

The best we could get:
-separate arm and hand (i think just a slim robot arm piece that has slot for regular minifig hands would be enough)

The pic was just someone else's take, If you actually would've read my post I said nothing about movable joints myself, I don't want them to be super-posable, but I do want them to be at least a bit closer to minifigs.

Minifigs have 4 limbs, 2 of which have 360 rotatable arms, and 360 degrees horizontally rotatable heads.

Battledroids have 3 limbs, and a head that can rotate 180 degrees vertically.

I live in a flyover so I don't have to worry about the vigilant LP or passive security tags found in more the melanized regions of the US. I just slap a cheap UPC over the real one, self scan, and fucking leave. Hide your face so the camera AI can't form a profile, park offsite in a residential zone, and never stop for LPfags. I have done this since self-scan became a thing approximately eight years now. I now have a duplicate boxed and unboxed collection, and the easiest revenue stream this side of bricklink. I am simply manifesting the shrink overtly calculated by retailers who chose to employ self service. Just doing my part.

Now that I have one, the electric guitar piece is very small and flimsy looking compared to the other stringed instruments. For reference, my actual banjo's head is about the size of my electric's lower round half. Either this is a tiny guitar or they messed up the scaling. It's not like Kermit has a resonator banjo, which would explain the relative size.

Pretty sure that Lego refuses to include Super Battle Droids in new sets because they had to send out a bunch of replacement arms and legs because they always snap. Minifigs always see the most use and get their clips snapped in and out all the time. I doubt Lego would be interest in adding more joints to them.

I personally think the electric is nicely scaled
the others have great shaping and crisp detail, but they really are rather jaed to hold naturally in many poses by minifigs

I'm prototyping a PTO shaft for my technic ATV. No pics because it's just an ugly prototype beside the real model and I want to avoid posting the same ATV photos unless the progress is significant. But I did overcome a technical hurdle, which was finding out how to transfer power from the engine and fit in a second transmission to engage the drivetrain and PTO independently. I'm fairly happy with how the mechanism from the proto is going to fit into the actual model. You'll probably get a peek in a few weeks when I have another wave of accessories and a new set of photos.

As other poster stated, put all the things you need in one wanted list, select them, hit the buy button at bottom to see which stores have the most unique lots. I'd start with the hardest to find one first and go from there.

Definitely check prices before actually buying. Some stores upcharge 5x-10x but carry almost everything. It's worth it to make two orders for average costs instead in many cases.

Jokes aside USPS' service varies wildly depending on where you live. I've moved around a fair amount in my life and some places the post office was awesome. The Postal workers were super friendly and would stop by to briefly chat upon delivering my packages. My stuff always can't in good shape there.
Where I currently live though it's awful. Every box I get looks like it was used as a prop in a WWE match. I always have to ask sellers to package stuff extra carefully (and they hardly ever do), it fucking blows. Can't wait to move outta here.

I remember back when I was really into lego halo and I copied this design from a youtube video made by some british kid. back then they had this thing where you could design your own set in LDD and have it shipped to your house, and even design your own box. they didn't have that round piece in purple though so I had to settle for a blue ghost. those were the days....

Damn, no new temple escape? Easily the most iconic scene and I wanted the original so much when I was a kid. I guess the Ark scene is just as iconic though, assuming that's what the middle one is supposed to be. No fucking way it's only gonna be 40 bucks though.

I'll probably pick them all up unless they really jew up the prices. I never really got any of the sets as a kid since I was more into lego star wars and halo figures at the time. It'll be interesting to see how they update the minifigures though. I'd at least expect a new hair/hat combo mold for Indy, but they might even skimp out on that.
