I've brought multiple normies to my house and they always find something interesting or something they like about my displays. Hell, I've even had some girls admire it. Granted a few of them were nerdy girls who worked at a comic shop and we're not exactly attractive, but the point still stands.
I think the stigma comes from the fact a lot of toy collectors are smelly, unkempt, manchildren living in their parents homes still. If you aren't that, then there really isn't anything to be embarassed about.
