I got the target 3 pack. I'm a little bummed that it's a Sun-man set and not snakes, but I'll take it. I want everyone in it. Here's the Horde so far minus two other Horde Troopers and the red and black ones bc too cramped. Really hoping they show off Modulok and a Shadow Weaver for Origins. Multibot, Dragstor and Dylamug would just be a victory lap but I need those two fuckers to feel complete with the team. Mantisaur would also be kino as fuck but I'm expecting more Snakes and variants than new Horde to be shown.

I'm still kind of expecting a Modulok announcement myself.
Considering they share a gimmick, I'm half expecting them to give us like a year's breathing room between Modulok and Multi-Bot, so don't take him into consideration because I know he's a long ways off.
But holy shit, yes, if thry announced Modulok and also Dragstor and Dylamug, I'd consider myself pretty much done with Horde where Origins is concerned. All (except 1) of the vintage guys plus my single favorite unproduced Ted Mayer guy...I'd be pretty content after that.

He-Man by default the most iconic figure in this entire line despite the basic figure became harder to find later on and replaced with variants. The original one is a lot harder to come by now. Surprisingly no recent reissues of the original figure. He's also one of the few characters with more than 2 accessories since he has the sword half, shield, and axe.

The oddest thing is he has no paint apps on his bracers.

Duncan "Man at Arms" is an okay figure. He at least has armor bits and a unique asymmetrical layout. I don't think they ever reused the mace for anyone in the vintage line surprisingly. It looks kinda like something from Mega Man or maybe a space projectile grenade. The original toy/art of him didn't have a moustache which Filmation made popular and a staple for future iterations (cept nf). He's one of the few fully dressed male characters in this line up until the Horde and King Hiss.

I don't know many people who are super fond of Stratos. The original line had trouble figuring out if he was a good guy or bad guy. With that flying monkey motif they probably were opting him as a bad guy, I think a bellhop costume would have looked good on him...

I think he has a cool helmet sort of like a fighter pilot helmet and it goes good with his jetpack. The wings are kind of dull compared to what the other characters have.

Teela is an interesting figure as she can do double duty as Sorceress. The original face sculpt was pretty good for its time, almost doll like. Accessory wise nothing too exciting, but I guess every party needs a caster/monk class. Remember this was pre-filmation so no Orko yet.

Beast Man was never a character I super got into. He's kinda ugly and looks like some sort of cross between an ape, an organutan, and a he-man. His power always felt like it only works on creatures ONCE or ones with weak wills hence why he can't control Battle Cat or Zoar.

Accessory wise he has a stupid big jim whip that looks like it fused with a circus megaphone. Maybe to whip and yell at animals. The concept version of him was better.

Mer-Man! His toy art looks nothing like the actual toy.

Art Mer-Man looks like he's a friendly nice guy maybe Skeletor convinced him the people of Eternia are jerks who pollute his water and poach his fish friends. There's some old text in the concept papers about him actually being an ally in the Lords of Power planning period. along with Stratos as a villain, but I guess maybe they didn't want 2 bad monkeys.

The actual figure head sculpt has this weird expression I can't quite describe very well. It definitely worked better as Stinkor which is amusing. The sword is unique and apparently supposed to be made of coral and not the hardest underwater seacorn. It's sad the line didn't do more water vehicles.

It's Skeletor the other iconic figure in this line. Is he supposed to be some sort of muscular lich? I feel like the cartoon definitely helped boost his popularity further with his funny one liners and distinct voice.

Overall one of the best figures from the early years of the line. That blended bright green and yellow face is very eye catching and detailed. No two Skeletors are alike.

Zodac, he's apparently a last minute addition. They had trouble determining if he was a hero or villain originally. Then he just ended up as "Neutral", but biased towards good because doing neutral is a bit of a complex concept children wouldn't grasp very well.

Not the most exciting figure, but he has a cool sci fi helmet head, armor, and laser gun (vs everyone else's melee weapons and staffs). He's also one of the few human allies that used the monster feet, arms,, and strangely hairy chest.

Okay 8 back boys done. Now we're into year two which introduced more gimmicky characters including Man E Faces.

Man E Faces is one of my personal favorites I like the rotating face gimmick. I tend to leave it on robot most of the time. He has a unique laser pistol that's not used all much.

Some versions came with the weapons pack Wun-Dar was originally packed with.

Mekaneck, he's not even in origins yet (maybe not until next year?). Wacky telescoping neck gimmick with cool helmet head with chrome shades.

The armor looks like it has a breathing thing that goes over his mouth maybe for him to inhale oxygen after stretching his neck at high altitudes? He also comes with a unique bat that sorta looks like a telescope. He can't really look with his telescope if his neck is extended super high up.

Ram Man, he's probably the secondary hero character with the most appearances. His gimmick hindered his articulation and he strangely has decals for his braces. He has unique tooling though.

Evil-Lyn. She's a simple retool of Teela, the original had a glow in the dark wand. She was definitely the primary Starscream of Skeletor's crew plotting to overthrow him if the others weren't. An okay figure,one of the very few females from the MOTU line.

Trapjaw, this guy is very high up in the favorites list. Multiple accessories, Big Jim James Bond villain looking head. He's also a space barbarian pirate cyborg man. He has that unique belt with the skull and crossbones. His helmet has a loop for him to go ziplining, but that may not be the best idea. He's usually depicted as a clumsy oaf (maybe so clumsy he became a cyborg...),but his original minicomics appearance made him a more formidable foe.

I think Triklops is the most overrated figure. I know there's tons of people who like him with his feature and cool sword (later reused for Fisto).

His gimmick is just Man E Face's but not as fun to me. The character later became "the local mad scientist tech guy".

Buzz Off was a character I never super got into but grew to love. A bee man is just a strange concept considering don't the male ones usually court the queen?

He has unique wings and helmet. The helmet people don't really use, It looks like it was supposed to be a flight helmet, but it can never be lowered to where his eyes are. A bit of an oddity.

Battle Armor Skeletor, he looks like he's going to go out into hardcore battle. Again fun gimmick. I like the neon bat logo he's sporting wish it was used more. The H logo on battle armor He-Man is seen elsewhere and sometimes used in place of the iron cross.

Another personal favorite of mine. The silly monstrous head sculpt and big clampy claw is just amusing. The only thing that sucks is he can barely hold his own weapon, Not sure would have been a better alternate accessory.

Sometimes I think Skeletor keeps him around as emergency rations and convinces him to lob off his big meaty claw so he can regenerate a bigger and stronger one while everyone eats the old one cooked in butter.

The best Whiplash design for me is Mike Young. It looks more reptilian and less like the hideous love child of an orc and a gator. Also they fleshed out his backstory and explored the idea that there's an entire race of tail slamming gator people who for some reason had uneasy relations with bat people.

Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto. Another unique figure with a clear torso and moving gears. Sorta reminds me of those clear phones back in the day or something. He's sporting that awesome robo knight look.

His backstory in filmation was that he came from space but got heavily damaged, but in almost all other continuities he's 100% made by Duncan.

The original Roboto figure has a heart detail in the center and played a pivotal role in the minicomic, but it's sometimes omitted from later Roboto toys and stuff. I kinda miss it.

Another personal favorite with a strange distinct smell. Some like it, some hate it. He sorta just smells like funky incense. It wasn't replicated very well for origins sadly. He definitely rocks the Mer-Man head better. Head shape looks like it could make a good bootleg brak figure maybe.

Not sure why he comes with just a shield, does he throw it at people or something? Shield himself from his own stank? Apparently in some euro releases he comes with a blue Zodac blaster.

The eyes on vintage Mantenna are prone to paint scratch. The vintage one can keep the eyes popped out, but he can't move his head. It's unfortunate the 4 legs are fused probably due to a budget thing. I like the colors and weird alien look and funky insect mouth.

Modulok actually has an origin story in the filmation version where he was originally a mad scientist and wanted to steal Duncan's brain and wanted to join Skeletor's group, but got rejected and went to the Horde instead.

Fun mix and match gimmick with limitless potential, really hoped he gets a release before Christmas along with Multibot as a wave mate maybe.

Simple, but effective gimmick. Scareglow is sadly from the filler with questionable distribution. Also his title of Evil Ghost of Skeletor was always confusing as some people thought he was literally GHOST Skeletor or something. I'd like to see that angle explored for something though.

Some how forgot Randor. Not much to say about him besides he looks like the Burger King. He sports the same armor as Jitsu, but his arm and torso is red instead of bare.

Character wise he always comes off as a very stern king who doesn't seem to understand Prince Adam very well. Their relationship almost always seems a little bit more distant especially compared to Malerna who seems to be aware of Adam's secret, but never outright says anything about it to him.

Yeah, true. That's the main reason I have no FOMO over not buying. I already have Filmation Adam, Blue Vest Adam, First Appearance He-Man, 2 slight variants on this He-Man, Blue Harness He-Man with Jet Sled and Battle Armor He-Man.

You mean a plastic clamshell like the $80 Origins castle scaled down to the minis? It'd probably be a $30 dollar retail footprint before this year's inflation. But it wouldn't be quite the size of the brick-built castle at such a low price, because that's not much smaller than the ones made for 5.5" figures: >10" wide and >13" high VS ~13" wide and ~18" high.

Just bought a bunch of cintage Motu tonight.
I know these aren't A Listers but I have a lot of nostalgia for the later wave characters. I was a mid 80s baby and played with the 86 and 87 waves more because they were still on the shelves.
