'Megalo Convoy' does not in any way imply Metroplex. He doesn't become a city, or even a building. He BUILDS buildings.

Their characters were very different, too.

I just bought my first Cyberverse figure, Slag (or Slug, whatever he's called these days). He's extremely good, like shockingly so. The majority of the Cyberverse figures look like shit, have almost no paint, are hollow, basic articulation, etc. Is Slag an anomaly? Or are there any other figures in the Cyberverse line that can match his quality? Sadly, the other Dinobots look like ass, but I'd be open to buying a few more toys since I kinda like the aesthetic.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Prime was usually the term for matrix holders.
The fact that animated deviated then tfprime went full reinventing of what a prime is should tell you how big of a deal it was.
In japan, they had deviated from the leaders being primes(convoys) for awhile and it was reserved for optimus and rodimus.

Because Hasbro hadn't used the Prime name outside of two characters, Japan was more open to it because they had several characters with Convoy added to their names, it took the west a while to do the same with Prime (even if the only Prime that's ever around is Optimus these days).

Fair enough, Vector prime was always cool. The whole guardian of time shtick was something that I really liked. It's a shame he never got a new figure in the style of his cybertron/GF one. It's a nice chunky figure but just needs a little more articulation.

He is a giant mostly white guy with pretty much the same face. The only thing that is notably different for robot mode is that he uses blue as his sub-color instead of red. Compared to Override and Scourge, he is much closer to his G1 namesake.

the original shockwave design concept for the show was that each of his legs split in two to form the spiderlegs, and his arms would form the top and back of the walker, with his chest becoming the front and his backpack becoming the bottom.

RiD15 and Cyberverse are really weird about that. Things that seem like toy gimmicks are not actually doable in the toy versions. Also Cyberverse has lots of weird shit from go like how Shadow Striker's toys were based on flashback appearance or how in the show the Seekers had a different design from Starscream to emphasize he has a higher rank, but the toys mostly made them Starscream recolors anyway. And pretty much everything regarding Deadlock/Drift's appearance in the toyline is strange.

The dragon arms snd legs are way too skinny and the chest is too boxy and the head is weird and neck joint is weird... Legacy is a fucking massive disappointment. It's not entirely bad it's just got all these flaws that add up which is even worse than just being bad somehow. This was the one guy I was desperate to be good because it was one of my favourite childhood toys. I went through this with Laser Prime too just crush my soul with mediocrity fucking greedy jew bastards I hate my retarded kid self for not keeping all my toys.

were his calves really hollow like that on the show? either way the lower leg area is way too thick and bulgy, so i'm glad they've changed that.. and it seems they've kept the same leg length or so.
the wings don't even look smaller, i'm not sure. i think it might just be both arms that are smaller in the new toy

... I like it a lot, it just looks nothing like Megatron, and that was a mistake.
Also the visor is TOO clear, it should be translucent like the wings. This is weird, the visor would have to be on its own sprue, right? unless the mold has like, a matte texture etched into it for the wing parts.
I still like this, but I don't see the reason for those changes.

The pretenders have altmodes generally similar to Cloudraker's "spread legs and make a V-shaped thing" and you could probably retool a lot of them into each other if needed. What the fuck is Skullgrin going to be reused for, and I was excited too..

I've waited so long for a new toy of this guy, and it's a complete disappointment, those horrible hips (you can't even replace them since they're necessary for the transformation, the best you could do is add covers but then you'd have to remove them every time you transformed it), the Rebirth head and the yellowing problems the blue parts will experience. It wouldn't surprise me if the Targetmaster ends up awful as well. He was the only non-Dinobot toy I wanted to get this year as well.

They can't be fixed, they require way too much. You'd need new hips, and entirely redone legs below the knees since any change to the hips would require a good chunk of the transformation to be altered (unless you replace the entire hip/pelvis section, but added a joint to extend or contract the hip section for transformation).

bw megs tried to borrow pretty heavily from previous megatron designs
purple had just been used for the face on the G2 toy, and a later version for archforce megatron
his transformation somewhat mimicks the original megatron, with his waist having to spin to the side for his feet to face forward in robot mode.
He has large saddlebags hanging off his hips
the second version threw most of that out and then TM2 just expanded upon that, but I do like that the back of the gun in G1 becomes megatron's head, and the back of the dragon (the base of the tail) becomes TM2 meg's head.

Why would they remember what Primes were by that logic
But fair, I don't remember much of the show but they could have forgotten or reused "leader/king thing word" for different qualifications they saw fitting.

Lolno what happened with Scourge was them cheaping out and reusing the ER legs. Meaning that the sprue color layout got all fucked for the mold and since they waisted all the paint budget on the silver trailer they didn't have enough to cover the entire upper body in color-correcting paint like they did with Prime so they just said fuck it and made him black so they only had to completely recolor the one chest part.

Me too and this is why I have no reason to personally buy this version. I am completely fine with mine that's in my storage chest because I got no space to display these big bots at the moment. Also the new version is pretty hollow and looks like it was made with thin plastic, the older one does have some hollow points but are made of really dense plastic.

my tyrannocon looks neat with this rubber chain.

Wish i had toys with "plastic crown" that would fit him.

They are probably doing Tidal Wave for 2023 and releasing him with Armada Megs though. So they had to do something for 2022 and Megalo Convoy is all they got. They are scrapping the bottom of the barrel with regards to Titans, the only ones left are Metrotitan and Grandus who are even more obscure.

I only own The Ark and Trypticon, but there's my two cents on them.
Not Metroplex or Fortess Maximus, that's for sure. Their alt modes are a joke that look worse than the G1 versions and in Fortress case it's missing all that made the original toy fun.
The Ark feels somewhat cheap and it's pretty limited but as a novelty item full of lore references it's pretty neat if you find it for less than retail, something that it's still easy to do.
Omega Supreme hip redesign fucks up with his robot mode proportions but still looks like a really enjoyable toy.
Trypticon has the best made mode in my opinion and him being a giant robot dinosaur is just fun.
Scorponok/Black Zarack seems to be the best all around.

I don't hate Metroplex. He, at least, has lots of spots for the smaller figures to go, and his carrier mode rocks. I just hate that front ramp that was totally designed wrong and the fact he doesn't have hips like the original so you can compact the legs in city mode better rather than have them all spayed out.

Fort Max is shit though. I only got him because he was on clearance and even then he needs a bunch of add-ons to be remotely useful.

To Hasbro, BM is the TLJ of BW.

Hasbro has only done one updated BM figure in their entire nostalgia lines and that was as a deluxe. The only other people interested in doing BM were the assholes at Funpub. And apparently the Strika/Obsidian/MW set sold terribly. The fact that Hasbro Corporate never even vetoed their second BM project (the one with Thrust/Jetstorm/Tankorr) despite vetoing a ton of other shit that Hasbro never ever touched should show everyone how little interest there was at doing BM on Hasbro's end.

Honestly if they fixed the fucking headsculpt I might consider buying this guy. Yeah his proportions are a bit odd, but I appreciate them altering the Transformation to include the beast claws in his robot chest. Small, but neat touch. The headsculpt is so odd tho especially since they did so well with Kingdom headsculpts and Tarantulas in Legacy.

Adding on, I think they were going for a "true" G1/BW hybrid face here along with some added savage teeth or some shit to match the dragon. I see what they were going for but they should have just given the fans the BW sculpt. But who am I to say they were even thinking because for whatever reason TF Prime Predacon logo is on the box. I have to think they did that for a reason right?

Based on the cities? Well, then we could have 5 named Titans for the Decepticons already, but unfortunately they are already in use: Tarn, Kaon, Vos, Helex and Tesarus.
On the other hand, those are codenames, and the names come from cities.

Hmmm. They could stick with the theme...

Tarn has Megatron's symbol-shaped fortress turn into his face... Helex has the Smelting Pool (although that's in Darkmount, which is in Polyhex. Which of course means you could have yet another Titan named either Darkmount or Polyhex)... Vos is an ancient archive-city-turned-weapons-factory...

Or something.

Of course you could just go with the thirteen named IDW Titans.

Metroplex' city mode hooks up to the other combiners base modes, making him a collection of cities.
But they were always supposed to be human scaled cities.
Fortress maximus was originally autobot city, it was only after the movie that they decided to rewrite metroplex as it, presumably because his toy was ready and fort max wasn't

There's definitely ways to do it, remember the original power rangers megazord was almost entirely 4 zords and the pterodactyl just formed the chestplate.
But 3 titans could work too. Probably be easier to work into a story since hasbro does 3 year long plots now. One becomes the hips and legs and each other becomes half the chest and an arm.

Literally all designs for this show is so god damn unappealing, and the 3D animation looks so shit, Cyberverse wasn't fantatically animated, but it had a nice style and charm to it.
Fully expect the toys to shelfwarm hard, especially any toys of the kids, which I assume they're making because the press statements mentioned it was from their point of view.

Oddly well stacked cast though, probably blew all the budget on the cast instead of the animation.

I'm not sure what you mean by that. If you mean "remake of a Beast Wars character in a standard retail toyline", then Cheetor, Dinobot, Rattrap, Waspinator, and Rhinox have been done before. If you mean a character from Beast Wars shows up in a new series, then some have done that like Blackarachnia and Waspinator in Animated, Cheetor in Cyberverse.
