Much more susceptible to breakage. If he takes a shelf dive he's gonna snap somewhere. It's also just a way for them to inflate the price. My guess was they didn't think Darkseid would be as big of a seller as say Batman or Wolverine so they had inflated the price a bit to justify even making him. I'm purely speculating though. What I do know is, I don't need my entire figure made of something more breakable than normal plastic. All just to have an excuse to charge double for it.

They fit well with NECA's comic stuff, years of DC direct, and Marvel Select. This is the first hurdle; you keep wanting things to scale with Hasbro Marvel Legend when only Hasbro ML scales with Hasbro ML. Mafex, SHF, Mexco, none of them work with Hasbro ML. so why use that as the standard?

The only 6'' lines that match decently are Mafex and DC Icons.

Funny enough, Darkseid seems like a deal in comparison. At $180, often $120 on sale, he's a big, heavy figure with a custom tin and accessories. Compare to what Mafex is charging, it was a deal.

Well there's your problem. It's just cheaper to import from somewhere like Amiami that have a deal with DHL to keep the price down. Domestic retailers will lump the import shipping cost into the retail price. Plus Yen is utterly fuckin worthless right now so that plays a BIG factor into things. Always always always pay in Yen when importing your figs.

USD to Yen exchange. Currently most Mafex cost around 8300 yen with a few exceptions. That currently translates to $60 USD. And then DHL shipping costs like 2400 yen which is roughly $15ish.

It's literally no different from ordering from Amazon. See item you want. Click purchase. Select shipping method. Select payment method. Then wait for your toy. If you live in the US you won't deal with customs. At least I never have. And I've been importing figures for like a decade now. DHL, which with their deal with Amiami, isn't even that expensive. And they'll get it to you in like 3 days. It's literally no different than ordering from anywhere else.

Interesting. I just paid $60 each for the Butcher and Homelander reissues. But yeah I do see that Amiami has Starlight and Vengeance listed at 9600yen. Maybe they increased the price due to inflation or because Yen is so worthless right now. Still, that's only $70. A far cry from being the same price as Mezco Darkseid like that one guy claimed.

I'd like to note a curiosity as I was browsing DC figure listings on ebay. It's rather amusing and funny that people are still getting away with this and that ebay doesn't step in. Why do they even bother to charge for the figure at all, they should just set the shipping to like 90 dollars and sell the figure for 99 cents

Yeahm in terms of engineering they're good but between the bland sculpts and the articulation thats very by numbers compared to how SHF/Revo milk the most of their range of motion, thye come just short to me. I still like them, but there's a bit to like from every line really. There's McFarlane figures that have scratched the same itch for me as $300 figures for me. .

i think it was an issue with the factory, because it actually DOES have the white, but it's only on the back of his head for some reason. between this, the painted over elbow joints on hush batman, and some of the bizarre inconsistent engineering, i'm starting to think a lot of this line comes down to factory choices/mistakes. that's probably how they get them made so fast, but if they could slow down just a little bit during the development process the toys would probably benefit

I don't like BAFs from hasbro but they have standardized articulation across most of them in the last several years. The only thing they're missing on average now compared to the normal 6" figs are butterflies, which is still bullshit because they arguably need it much more.
I also don't care if something is "normal", I would like things to be better. Releasing a figure with no bicep swivels on a giant bruiser is something I was happy got phased out 9 years ago.

Storm is smart, they've tricked people into buying their line by calling it 1/12 when it's much closer to a 1/10 line. Very few actually call them out on it and just blindly buy "1/12".

Mcfarlane got the cowl better. The spikes on the Mafex shoulders are fucking pathetic. The spikes never looked that thick. McFarlane has a nice swoop to the cowl and bulky figure that just looks badass.
And I am getting Mafex's too. The articulation is a benefit even if I'm not 100% on the sculpt

Lol what even is this pose? Todd's does remind me a bunch of the old Kenner figure I had as a kid. So that's cool. But I'm glad I got this guy, the colors are just so much better. Hopefully Todd releases a non gold label variant that has brighter yellows and deeper blues.

Who knows with Todd but with anon posting his Mafex and other anon posting comic pages, it's apparent just how off the colors on the McFarlane are. Also why does the chest piece come to slightly raised point right under the yellow square. It should be smooth.

ON TOPIC

Croc came in, did some light touch ups before I go in for the full wash. I've never had so much trouble trying to stand two figures. FUCK the Flashpoint Batman ankles and Croc's toe joint.. Didn't notice until now his belt was moved, excellent.

Still, super happy with him and happy Todd is putting out stuff that with .35 cents worth of wash come out excellent.

I picked out the tron lines on Darkseid War Lex and painted his face like Darkseid’s. I know it isn’t comic accurate but it looks cooler and for awhile he did have the rocky skin.

Also darkened the armor and picked out some more red accents. Thinking on cutting up some red fabric to glue to his throne

Thank you, I was surprised at how well the stone colour looked on the face. The flesh with the makeup looked ridiculous, Luthor-Darkseid should’ve taken cues from pic related.

Todd should copy the way Mafex does their crotch pieces, and tweak the ab crunch articulation to where it bends above the top row of abs instead of under. Having Blue Beetle's boots on Booster is a negative. Perhaps the transparent goggles, and much requested big collar on Booster might be on a later release. It should have been on this release. The wrist joints have improved.

white BG promo pics are trash but mcfarlane figs always look better in hand. I didn't think they'd include so many accessories especially skeets but this is a nice surprise. These are an instant buy for me.
