>>9941768As I understand it, Cobra was really popular for that early adopter anime crowd in America, the ones who watched anime for the first time on Sci-Fi Channel and cut their teeth on titles like Lodoss War, Ninja Scroll, and "Teknoman" (Tekkaman Blade). Those people are mostly older fans, and not really given to a lot of articulated figure buying in my experience. They tend to either buy statues, or nothing at all. And outside of that group, barely anyone seems to know or remember what Cobra is. Its legacy outside of Japan is rather small, and dwindling more and more with time.
Even I don't completely understand it, as I only know the above due to research. This was not something I lived personally, I'm a late adopter myself, only getting into Cobra maybe ~4 years ago.
