This is amazing. It's still amazes me how someone can have access to literally thousands of parts and still make a purchase crammed with the most basic, common parts with no personality or varienty. Also I built the Scout Trooper helmet. I got it for $40 USD but I can't believe Lego sold this shit for $50. Even at $40 it's way to expensive for what it is.

Also building it was pretty fun. Good techniques. Not a lot of stickers. I might get the Luke helmet/pilot helmet but other than that I just find find any of he other helmets pleasing. And Vader's helmet is like $70.

7 was okay
8 had some good ideas but got bogged down in the middle by the canto bight side quest
9 was ass and the only time I walked out of a Star Wars movie wanting a refund(lucky for me they were handing out apolotickets because the 3D was broken, so I got to see it for free)
Rogue One and The Mandalorian are the best things Disney has put out so far.

I've looked through the selection, im explicitly looking for medieval stuff /low fantasy stuff without technicolor palettes, which lego doesnt have much of, the ones that sort of fit with what i was going for have already been listed.

Lego told me it wasn't even the overall charge for the 100 dollar explorer, it was some 3-10 dollar fee thats part of the overall price that they attempt to charge first before the rest of the amount. Paypal didn't like that.

Unfortunately, only the lego sets from 80s-90s really have the colorful pallets in my opinion. The exception being some of the modern lion knights of the late 90s-present. If you want accuracy, you need to pick a period. Chances are you want 14th Century, which is the time period of most lego medieval, since they have shields and the classic visor helmet is similar to a bassinet. If you want a realistic variety, you pretty much have to use stuff from all over the periods. Brick warriors are the best alternative helmets in my opinion. The hound snout bassinet is probably the best one and would spice up a mixture of your knights with the most accuracy. Second being the Sallet helmet, however that doesn't' really see prominence until post-1450s at which point there are absolutely no shields even on mounted knights. However, mixing it in will still look good. In terms of painting and kit bashing, you should probably do it yourself and look up stickers to make surecoats for them.

It's a spherical planet in deep uncharted space that has an uninhabitable surface (to humans, anyways), but a barely-habitable subterranean.

The Rock Raiders get there after their ship, the LMS Explorer, gets caught in a wormhole. They don't have enough fuel to get back to their home planet and their ship is badly damaged, so they beam down Star Trek-style into the planet's underground to retrieve energy crystals and ore necessary to repair their ship and get home.

It has been a long time since I've played the video game, but, I think that some parts of the underground have limited amounts of air and these levels in the vidya have a time limit. Other parts of the subterranean have breathable oxygen up the wazoo, and this limitation doesn't exist there.

In an abused bucket are remnants of some big sets like:
kings mountain fortress, wolf pack fort, Islanders, 90s pirate including pirate and armada ships, big US western fort, Indian village, Aqua whatever theme, the adventurer theme including the zeplin. My pleasure. I forgot to mention the subterranean world is populated by large sentient monsters made out of rock, ice or stone. There is fan speculation that these beasts used to be much more civilized because one of the comic strips shows, like, ruins or something deep underground, or something? They're cool as fuck because they can just merge with whatever their body is made out of and come out of the walls and stuff.

There's also slimy slugs that feed off of energy, including the precious energy crystals your rock raiders are trying to retrieve. They're also immortal and completely unkillable. All you can do is scare them off with sonic charges.

Good theory, but unlikely based on the evidence. All the box art, catalog dioramas etc. don't give any indication of a large celestial body such as Jupiter in the skies above the ice planet, one would think it would appear somewhere. If the Ice Planet logo is anything to go by, the planet is only half-frozen, with the southern hemisphere apparently ice-free.

Aquazone being space theme is awsome theory but theres one thing that makes it somewhat improbalbe. You have sharks, octopus and manta rays, unless they were introduced as some part of fauna enrichment project (beside sharks, aquasharks could bring them just for fun and as the pets) its weird to have all that earth animals on a different planet. Back when I was kid I thought that aquazone is scifi earth theme, where most of earth resources are gone, terestrial part is fucked up and people make an effort to explore, exploit and expand to undersea.

Fwiw there's a handful of academics and scientists suggesting that octopuses may have originated from outer space. Pretty sure I viewed Aquazone the same way back then, though I didn't really think too much on it. In my current universe the Aquasharks were mostly driven out of their homeworld's waters due to aggressive stripmining by the Aquanauts, Aquaraiders and Hydronauts (each being successively more ruthless iterations of the same organization). Now they're semi-nomatic, with scattered hidden bases and colonies across the sector, sending out large raiding cruisers to hit back against those industrial bullies and gather precious resources to ensure their survival.

Still it leaves sharks and manta rays without any explanation. If i would need to devise how they have them if its really on the other planet, I would say that every faction use their own animal as some kind of quasi sapient helper. You can see that shark can be seen only if aquasharks are present (till hydronauts) and octopusses are present in aquanauts sets. Theres even 6104 versus set with shark, octopuss and both aquashark, aquanaut minifigure,which can be interprated as that theyre are part of the factions. That leaves manta ray which started to appear with hydronauts, but their biggest sub is called stingray, so the link is there.

Something else to consider is that the rays, sharks and octopuses present in the sets may be stand-ins for more exotic alien undersea life. The lego manta ray was first introduced in the Divers line a year before they appeared in a couple Aquazone sets; the shark had been around for several years already thanks to the Pirates theme and while the octopus was introduced with the Aquazone sets, it has a (borderline ridiculous) possibility of being alien in origin.

In keeping with this hypothesis, consider the 1999 Gungan Sub set comes with a manta ray which certainly isn't found on Naboo. Rather than go to the trouble of creating a more appropriate aquatic creature mold they probably just tossed in what was most suitable from what was already available as filler for the set - the sub itself resembles a large ray so there's that reason as well.

One last thing, the Stingrays are clearly not normal "humans" - it's possible they could mutations/engineered to be more at home underwater but they still wear diving gear including an enclosed helmet. While there doesn't seem to be airtanks as part of their equipment, details on the front of their helmets could suggest an advanced rebreather technology.

Tl;dr there's sufficient evidence to support the idea that the Aquazone is on another planet, and that's without considering the prototyped but never released Seatron and "sea people" sets that were clearly designed to tie into Space (note the exotic hammerhead shark-like creatures).

All thing considered the prototype mtron line was few years before actual aquanauts, aquasharks have sharks in their sets while stingrays have stingrays. The "animal helper" just sounds possible to me given all the 90s scifi shows troopes with sentient/semi inteligent animals like the seaquest darwin. Theres no confirmed canon sadly so its just all our own speculations.

I respect Power Miners for being another original theme before those became a thing of the past, but I hated the colors of Power Miners. However, I was tempted by that set at least. If only it didn't use set exclusive parts I'd try swapping it out. Maybe one day I'll make a MOC recreation of it in Rock Raiders colors and parts.

Currently I'm doing something similar bur involves future archeology. The backstory is a bit silly, taking place in the same world (or at least one very similar to) as some 90s satirical mockumentary. In it Archeologists in 2499 investigate Argentina, a country now famous for its mysterious disappearance (one theory being it that it sunk due to how heavy bullshit was getting). There's also elements of (gaijin) otaku culture including imageboards and the popularity of SNK in South America.
Basically the factions are different imageboard users living under the sea after having enough of the normalfag surface. The ones that spent too much time at their sreen turned their eyes red and became the Stingrays They search and fight over KoF statues that were celebrated works of art, commissioned by an aristocrat of the Menem dynasty(he worked as an assistant to the secretary of a city council member that just so happened to be his uncle) to the finest hobby artisans in Brazil. They were thought lost along the rest of Argentina until now.

Water Elemental version AND dragon version - this set's the same deal as the Overlord Dragon set, where both the minifig and the dragon represent the same character (Nya turned into the dragon in Season 14 Episode 16, pic related). Only difference here is that Nya was a (former) human who was assuming a dragon form as a power-up, while The Overlord was a dragon originally who was masquerading as a human the whole time because he had lost most of his powers.
Semi-related note, but I wish we'd actually seen the Overlord in his dragon form for more than two seconds - all that buildup of him regaining his full power, and when he actually manages to return to his real body, he gets nuked before he can even do anything and reduced to being a an evil computer virus (somehow?) for the next season.

Honestly, this is the theme's greatest weakness. I'm fine with them being bright and colourful, as industrial machines often are. However, lime green with bright orange is obnoxious at best, and repulsive at worst. Something a bit less garish would be appreciable.

You realize they make construction vehicles in those colors in real life, right? Neon green, yellow, neon orange, bright red, blue, or a combination of those colors - the whole point is to make the thing highly visible so people have no issue seeing it and getting out of the way while it's moving around. Imagine if the drill was colored dark brown or black; they're mining underground where the lighting is dim and there's so much noise echoing around that you wouldn't be able to hear any warning shouts over the sound of drilling, so anyone on foot who wasn't paying attention could easily walk in front of the thing and not see it until it was too late. Bright colors catch the eye even in low visibility, hence why construction vests, tools, and anything else on a dig site is typically brightly or neon colored. It might not be pretty, but it does have a basis in reality.
