Storm loves to pose their figures using the sprites as a reference.
I imagine they'll want to hit the ball and electricity/crouch poses and they might be able to with their soft diaper hips, ball waist and ball mid-torso if they try to optimize the design around that pose. I presume he will be sculpted with forward hunch by default so he only needs to crunch a little further to form a ball.

Technically, the shirt is not cast-offable. There aren't any seam lines in the shirt plus those colored inner joints. It'll be a interchangeable torso. It's going to be pricey.

Just search Iori on google image and you'll see most of his poses he crossed his arms. Hell Storm's Iori's legs can't even bend more than 90 degrees. From a strictly math point of view, scale is meaningless in the toy world. 1/12 should mean the character is reduced to one twelve part of his original size. To be accurate, Sagat should be 18,3cm instead of 20cm, and Ryu should measure 14cm instead of 17cm. Technically the difference in height between them both is even larger than what we saw in the promo pics. But then, going into other toy lines, Sakura Kinomoto should be 12cm, while any Godzilla figure should be in the range of meters, around 9 m depending on the film.

So, yeah, toy companies just pull out of their asses the size of their toys, I suppose based on the costs of production, materials and transportation. Then they slap 1/something to tell an approximate size, but really, it means nothing in the larger scale of things.

Chiefs, I've managed to found someone selling Violent Ken for $95, MISB. Is it worth it?
What I really want is normal SF2 Ken but since the only Ryu I have is SF4 evil Ryu I feel like I can maybe make do with Violent Ken.

Given the new balrog is setting me back $138 on PO direct from SC, I can justify paying $150 each for the other characters I've missed.

Storm is generally really good at sculpting bodies, but their faces often fall flat for me. There have just been so many mediocre or flat-out bad ones. Wish they would hire someone new specifically to handle facesculpts, it's arguably the most important part of a high-quality figure (and why heads are the most expensive when parting out a 1/6 figure).

Possibly, but you'll notice that their USFII Zangief is a completely different mold (a better one, at that) than their SFV Zangief, despite the two designs being practically identical.

With that said, I'm still holding out hope for a USFII Chun-Li, as I'm sure she'd be a massive improvement over their attempt at a SFV Chun-Li.

I don't know how they go from Kazuya and Heihachi to Jin.. Kazuya grin face look amazing or good enough at least. Also Rugal who I think has the best face of all storm figures, although the new Balrog figure could take that title because it looks very good.

Based on Kano's outfit I think we're going to be in the original timeline for a while yet before crossing over to the current timeline. Hopefully the Kitana means a headswap / palate swap of the sculpt is coming sooner rather than later for Mileena. For example, I'm Spanish and if I were to buy Balrog from Storm's site it would be around $90toy + $40shipping + 35€customs = 165€ rounding up

I've bought a few Storm figures from Storm, Amiami and BBTS, but I'm becoming inclined to look for local stores next time. I think they are increasingly noticing these Chinese brands and it's becoming common to see listings for Storm or Joytoy for better prices than what you'd get importing them yourself. Pic related is a couple of screenshots from random local stores that google just told me about. It seems they will beat Balrog's final price when they add it.

The most logical choice would be heihachi as he's the oldest and would be the hardest to find anywhere else. He's pretty standard but still a good figure, I think his likeness is pretty good.
Ken is much the same but I know some people take issue with the large torsos that some of the USFII figures have. This is mostly seen on Guile, Ryu and Ken. personally it doesn't bother me.

At least with heihachi he sort of got a soft reissue with that exclusive version that came with the mascot head but it's still been awhile since then.

Raptor would be fucking sick, though part of me has always wanted him as a Revoltech for over a decade for obvious reasons. I assume if Jedah gets done, it'll be based roughly on his MvCi appearance, which wouldn't be the worst. Also would love to see Huitzil as well but that's the biggest pipe dream considering how much shit he'd need to come with.
I just want Gallon because I've never had more fun with a character outside of a team game and he'd probably be one of the easiest, since all you'd need to include is the nunchunks and maybe a beast cannon effect.

He looks a lot more boring and smoothed out there, but he's also already 3D and would match Demitri, so I'm pretty sure that's what we're getting too. Bummer. The lean, ropy muscles in his Darkstalkers sprite are so cool.

Storm is making a lot of great license picks, but their execution sometimes leaves something to be desired, especially when it comes to more stylized titles. They tend to drop it and just do their pseudo-realistic house style.

MvCi isn't as good as 3 by a long shot, but it's not bad. It's just irritating that while the graphics and roster aren't that good, people only complained about that, and not about the gameplay issues like the game pausing and dropping inputs every time someone presses tag and the screen freezes. Fucking awful. That being said, Jedah in a marvel is amazing and definitely worth fucking around in. All the DLC characters are amazingly fun and well designed, especially compared to the MvC3 refugee characters.
And yeah, I agree, but to be fair I think adopting Bengus' and Akiman's styles from that era to 3d is incredibly difficult, so I at least get it. Makes it easier to have a storm shelf at least for me as well, since I like having a unified aesthetic, more or less.

Storm doesn't use rubber, and it being seamless isn't as relevant because it's not designed the same as something like many HT or Phicen (ie. Not solid plastic material covering a metal skeleton essentially). It still has its own set of problems of course, but the "rotting" isn't the main concern like other seamless lines

It also helps that Storm knows *where* to use it. It's never used as a covering for an entire joint or as something that's going to be bent or stressed 90% of the time. I've had my Iori and Kyo posed as dynamically as I can get them for months at a time without changing the pose and not had any wrinkles or cracks because of where they've used it.

uff a lot. Heihachi, Terry, Sagat, Ken (violent or normal), Fuuma (I didn't play World Heroes YET but he seem like a good figure with excellent articulation and accesories), Kazuya, Haohmaru, Darkseid, Shao Kahn (I'm going to wait for the new one because the prototype look better and less bulky), Akuma and evil Ryu. I think that's all from storm but I want Nappa from Figuarts and a few figmas. I was going to buy Figma Pekora now because even if I don't watch her she seem really fun to play with (and because she's cheaper than everyone else).
I'm not naming any preorder that I want because even if I buy them I'll have to wait

That's what made me decide the reg version was worth it.

I dipped on the Kengan shit for exactly that reason. Good to see that with the Baki stuff and basically everything else they're refusing to do it again. It feels like a licensee thing at this point, since they only do it on specific licenses and not across the entire line.

I doubt it's a licensing thing since that'd be a weird thing to stipulate that figures must be seamless.
It's more likely that it's Storm wanting to stick to the seamless meme as a weird "identity" thing, as they started out making 1/6 seamless figures, right? They keep just wanting to bring it back.
As for Orochi and Devil Jin being seamless, I think they backflipped on that. WonFes 2021 pics show Orochi with a torso cut, not sure when we last saw DJin if he had one too

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Storm's headsculpt game is seriously hindering them from being one of he best toy companies in the game today. They're very close, their body sculpts and engineering are typically very good, but their head game just ain't it. Hire someone else already, damn. I'd love to see a Huitzil too since he's my favorite Darkstalker, but I can forsee a few problems with incorporating articulation into his design. Like the flex-tube elbows, the knees that really shouldn't even be able to bend at all if you take the base design of the knee area at face value, and the giant spherical shoulders. Nothing that some clever engineering couldn't accomplish of course, but it would take some work.

They seem to be a diecast toy manufacturer, Googling them doesn't even bring up any action figure results. If this is their first try pivoting to action figures, it's probably not gonna be very good. And even if it is decent, Storm fans by nature are older folks who have money and don't mind spending it to get a more perfect product. They aren't interested in a shittier figure just because it's cheap.

Ignore the guy comparing them, they're completely different style of figures, differing aesthetics, differing prices, etc. Jada previously made some Universal Monsters articulated figures, but they seem to be stepping things up with Mega Man and Street Fighter. They seem like they'll be solid figures, especially for the $25.

The problem is that Huitzil would feel incredibly incomplete without a fucking mountain of option parts and replacement limbs to actually be able to do basically any of his normals and/or specials. Like yes you can break up the sculpt and make it work with soft parts, but that doesn't give him drills, lasers, missiles, claws, etc. It'd be like not including Donovan's sword.

Picked up an extra MK3 masked subs for pretty much retail recently so I could stick the unmasked head on it. Works pretty well as I plan to just use the icy arms on the Kintaro set to make a makeshift icey arms exclusive.

That does look pretty good, I'm just leery of companies that are new to super articulated figures because joint engineering has really come a long way in the last 10 years, and you can't be sure if they're up-to-date on the discussion or if they slowly, painstakingly need to catch up to the rest of the class. I'll give that Fei Long a shot, he looks pretty fun and the sculpt honestly isn't too bad.
