>>9994018I feel like the Tyrannosaur paint schemes seem alright, an improvement over the last two lines, I could believe basically all of them except the Gorgosaurus (who is blue for meme reasons really).
Ceratopsian series paint jobs could be a mess. Most, including important ones like the Trike, werent bad, a few showy colors but they were probably showy animals. Sino, Styraco, Nasuto, Centro, and Toro were pretty ridiculous though, and Zuni's 5 lined skink scheme was too on the nose it was a bit distracting. I like Toro but the color scheme was so over the top there was just zero believability, the fans choice one shows how much better it can look with a more realistic color scheme and single handedly makes it an actual viable Trike alternative. I also have some issues with Acheroraptor from the Raptor series.
Yes I know that bright green and bright blue and what not are colors that CAN happen in nature (though blue is faked through means other than pigment), but on large animals showy colors like that will be localized to certain areas of the body for display not plastered over the whole thing, they take a lot of resources to maintain.
Plus predators like Acheroraptor really shouldnt be compromising their stealth with blue footed booby blues.
There's a balance to be found here in terms of not pulling a PNSO and having every figure look essentially identical, and having your figures so psychedelic that it compromises the realistic sculpt. Many BotM figures DO actually strike this balance fairly gracefully, but not even remotely all of them, which really should be the case since everyone's favourite dinosaur is going to be different and it would suck if fans of an obscure dinosaur excited for a BotM action figure end up stuck with something extremely toyetic.
