Shit. I think I put mine back in storage. I got the glow and regular ones. I remember it was a pretty thick layer of plastic, but was still somewhat flexable.
I used to have it on top of my headcrab plush.

The deluxe one when they were still doing other nintendo characters. Came out after Bowser and DK deluxe figures. I think Ganon from Wind Waker was the other deluxe that released with it.

The big Metroid was always the same soft plastic shell to my knowledge each time it was released, but the 2.5 inch figures had variants. The ones sold in the closed packaging had a soft squishy dome like the big release, the ones sold in the open Walmart checkout style packaging switched it for a hard plastic shell. And the ones that came in the multipack were also the hard shell version. The hard shell ones kinda suck because there's a giant seam running along the bottom of it to put the two pieces together.

World of Nintendo is dead, everything released now is character specific packaging. Nearly everything is a straight re-release but this BotW Link fig did get a new cloth tunic.

If its like the squishy Metroid from >>9976364 I have that and its just a thin rubber plastic shell. It squishes in a little bit if you push on it. Do you remember those rubber pop things from school, where you'd turn them inside out and they'd pop up in the air? Think of something like that only a bit thinner so it deforms more easily when pushed on.

After a heavy clearance and some re-organizing, my Target restocked their Mario section and had a Boom Boom!

I was shocked by how articulate he is. Hinge wrists, hinge and swivel shoulders, and even butterfly joints! I'm not sure if the wrists and hips rotate, and I don't want to risk breaking him to find out if they do or not.
He doesn't want to balance flat on his feet unless you have his arms down on the ground like a gorilla. Alternately, you can have him lean back on his heels and tail.

I think they probably still have the license to all the properties they've made World of Nintendo figures for. It's just clear they decided to focus on Mario. Not sure if they will touch the property again. Maybe just the inklings as a special release in new packaging like everything else not Mario.

I hope we do get more figma to align with Splatoon 3. An octoling set would be good.

I feel bad to defend him- Scott Neitlich usually has sound reasoning behind some of the stuff he says, but its all based on when he was in the industry. Its like the 'Back in my day' mentality. Its a totally different world for toy collectors than it was 10 years ago, or even 5 years ago. I think Nintendo does sell well, its just that it depends on if it'll be the 10th repaint of Mario or a deluxe Samus figure. It is kind of hard to sell stuff that you already have or have something similar enough to. Which is why I like it when they make less common characters like Nabbit or Toadette.

So the people pushing for non-mario stuff internally are just gone and the new lead designer doesn't really do much outside of mario at Jakks.
So that tied with the genuinely awful timing for the splatoon 1 stuff to drop when the world of nintendo branding was alive left Splatoon in a weird area.
Jakks still has the license for it since it's IP based not individual game based, it's just they wont do new tooling.
They re-released the inkling boy when Splatoon 2 came out and that's it.

I own Multiple Jakks 6" and 2.5" Metroid's all with the squishy shell. I also own the Amiibo, the Gift Box Vinyl Metroid figure and the Good Smile Samus figure baby Metroid.

The material is like a soft pliable plastic. If you have any figures with soft plastic capes, it's similar to that.

Not toy related but I finally managed to get those lottery kirby cups. Shipping was twice the cup but I wanted one of these for years. The bottom of the cup isnt flat so youre in for some real bullshit.
I really cant wait for the new kirby nendo so i can have a shelf of it for no reason.

I wonder if they're going with the origins story from the original Super Mario Super Show. Couple of brooklyn plumber brothers doing a tough job unclogging a tub drain and suddenly they get isekai'd to the Mushroom kingdom. And Luigi gets thrown to the opposite side of the world and has to battle his way back to his brother. We know Foreman Spike from Wrecking Crew is in it and he's their boss. There will probably be some kind of intro scene showing them working in the city before they get sucked through the pipes into the Mushroom Kingdom.

It was the Super Show origin, and the movie origin, because it was the official Nintendo one for years. I wonder if it will be New York or New Donk or something else, though.

Also, both DK and Cranky are confirmed to be in it. I feel like maybe we'll see DK as part of the early scenes, very briefly, as a reference to the original game.

Ironically the jakks bowser is better but not by too much but better pricing and some articulation. Also there's the huge ass prize figure but it's only semi articulated at best if you just want a Titan class Bowser.

Jakks MicroLand Bowser from several years ago is like .75" - 1" tall I think. He's a bit larger than Mario and friends who are about .5-.6" tall

Got this in the mail the other day.
Morton and Pokey are fantastic

Morton is the most detailed and posable of the koopalings. Guess they wanted to do justice to the final koopa kid
I had no idea but pokey comes apart and is held together via magnets.
