>>9997201 Judging by how they compare to the turtles in their respective waves they seem to be about the same size, though it looks like Rocksteady's knees are bending a bit more than Bebop. No idea why Rocksteady costs $10 more.

>>9997201 that's actually a really good question. Rocksteady might be slightly smaller in both cases.
>>9997174 Mutagen Man is motivated only by getting more mutagen from Shredder to stay alive. he needs to learn to accept his mortality and stop making his problem others' problems.. maybe ask Don for help finding a cure (pretty fucking unlikely, but in the cartoon/toy universe, weird shit can happen) or find out where in dimension X krang is getting the mutagen from and just.. live there.

>>9997218 I assume it's the same logic as to why Guerilla Gorilla ended up costing more than the rest of wave 7, since Robo Rocksteady is larger than the rest of the wave. I suspect it's not the last time we'll be paying more for the same size.
Anonymous
>>9997222 GG looks like he's significantly heavier (and thus uses more plastic) than the other figures so him I understand, but having Robot Bebop be one price and the very next wave you have Robot Rocksteady cost more seems weird. It's especially weird because both waves have a repaint to reduce costs.

Crimson Commander has come out in support of Ultimates raising their prices.
Anonymous
>>9997230 I wonder if it's because of lower sales in the recent waves? When Brian went over tooling and production costs in one of his interviews it sounds like one of the big reasons they could sell the earlier waves at a lower price was sheet volume. Now that we're well out of the standard 4 brothers and iconic characters they're probably getting way fewer orders, which means the initial costs are harder to get over.

>>9997230 Sadly it's Super7 doing everything they can to pull more money from people instead of going a full price increase, they'll needle it out where they can get it. There's excuses like the Glow powder and all that, but really it's just them upping prices and testing waters before things really get bad.
Crimson Commander !!uoqqXVkn8aK
>>9997218 Turtles has seen less price hikes than other Super7 lines. They re-issued the 4 Turtles at their original wave 1 price and re-issued wave 1 at the original price, with the explanation being that they could afford it when those specific figures sold as much as they did. My assumption is that Rocksteady got put up after they increased the price, or Guerrilla Gorilla ate the cost in Wave 7, because he's a more expensive figure.

I'm also looking forward to Scumbug, Merdude, and Walkabout, and I'm sure lots of others want Pizzaface and Mona Lisa. And obviously the giant krang will be a major one.
Now yeah, beyond those, the memorable and desirable characters drop off hard. but in fairness, so do the LARGE toys.. i doubt we'll get the rideable bugs even though those guys were badass. and after them, anyone meant to be large.. kinda can't think of any. So that's like 3 more waves beyond the planned ones before they should have to worry about interest dwindling.
so in the process of looking down the old playmates list, I once again hit on something I was not aware of. The 'unmutated turtle' playset, not surprising. I had the mutating turtles, that's what they looked like. the tokka one, I had that.

mutagen man's guts being pink makes sense to me. guts are pink. Yeah I guess going full anatomical accuracy on them would help a bit, but they're on the inside and behind clear plastic... I feel like they knocked him right out of the park.
speaking of those hips, does anyone know if the pelvis piece is on a proper removable balljoint that you can pop off and add polycoat to? because I'd hate to find out 'nope, it's the kind of joint if you pull on it you bust it forever' like a.. uh, acorn joint or whatever.

>>9999199 >they're just the Playmates toy...but bigger and more articulation Given that's all that I really wanted, it's hard to be too disappointed. In fact, I don't think you're giving them enough credit--these are 100% original sculpts that for the most part manage to catch the same vibe as the old figures while adding more detail, which is a very difficult feat to begin with and one of my biggest fears when I first heard of the line. You're treating it as a given that they look "just like" the old toys--no bitch, that's an achievement.
Like others have mentioned, the paint on the figures themselves are more plentiful and varied, and they added sculpted detail in mostly non-intrusive ways (like the slime strings stretching between his figures, what a great little detail).

>>9999389 Most of the time. There are a few things I would have done differently, but it's all down to creative vision and taste I guess. I think Mondo Gecko could have had proportionately longer legs, and then been smaller overall to make up for it. I think Baxter could have gotten away with smaller legs, and the wing posability isn't ideal.. triceraton appears to have small hands, and leatherhead looks a little odd, though the more I look at him the more right he appears to be. In general though they are nailing this line. Still wish Splinter had either an alternate head, or that they did his nose according to the original sculpt, but it's all good.

There isn’t any other characters due to the show and toy lines short run. There are a lot concept art and some clay models for other characters that were meant for this line (besides the stuff from the cancelled wave 2 for the original toys) that would be really interesting to see super7 make ultimate figures for to give fans a way into finally getting something physical out of unmade concept drawings.

Finally opened my super7 metalhead. I don't think my plan to drill holes in the backs of his calves and run the wire through there will work, because when perfectly straight, the leg pulls the cable just about taut. I would need to find a suitable replacement material first (maybe just rubber-coated twist-tie wire? but it won't have the nice segmented cable detail) and make all new cables. which I might do regardless, since one of them has already broken off. other familiar gripes include the lightpiping bleeding through around the paint on the head, and also mine had a little paint slop on one eye but it scraped off easily. I think it would have been better to put a cut joint in the thigh where one is sculpted in, so the cable could stay aligned as you rotate the leg, but the knees can only bend a few degrees regardless. Seems odd that the grenades he comes with are painted, but the ones on his belt aren't. feels like his accessories also deserved more paint, such as the corkscrew part on the robochucks. minor disappointments, still hella fond of this guy.

>>10001678 >Some kind anon post highlights I skimmed only the toy discussion, so this isn't comprehensive:
Space Raph:
-His alt head is exactly what you think it's referencing. (Star Wars Stormtrooper)
-Alien was upgraded from detail on Raph to about a 1-2 inch sidekick figure.
-Otherwise faithful to the vintage figure.
Robo Rocksteady:
-He's straight up Megatron's colour palate, which was based fully on the vintage figure.
-About the same height as Robo Bebop. His size was brought up very cautiously, apparently as a way to ask about the ten dollar d-discrepancy between figures, but they don't talk about it.
-Super7 does not like to separate Bebop and Rocksteady for more than a wave because the fans get really antsy about it. (Worth remembering for future variants of the duo).
Shredder Recolour:
-Intended as a way for new people to get main characters in their hands without just doing straight up reprints of the original figures collectors have.
-More recolours are likely in the future for core cast members - super7 isn't a huge company and people might first hear about them around wave 12 or something, and then will need a way to get the main guys.
-Bonus accessory (mutagen canister) is a hint at why they wanted a "normal" version of shredder in this colour scheme. (Super Shredder)
Genghis Frog:
-Super gross on purpose, to make him fun and extra froggy.
-Considering Napoleon is basically a Horny Toad, some debate about making the other two frogs wild inventions instead of palate swaps like the cartoon versions. The bottom guy (the sculptor?) said he's thought a lot about this and likes the idea of Attila with crazy red eyes and orange hands (red-eyed tree frog) and Rasputin should be a crazy neon colour (poison arrow frog, didn't specify which specifically) because hey, thematically he might as well be immune to poisons like his namesake.
Also cartoon characters who never got a toy are on the radar but there's lots of vintage to get through first.

Robo Bebop and Robo Rocksteady both have the light piping eyes / head thing like metalhead, as their vintage toys did too.
They do bring it up later, Robo Rocksteady is more expensive than normal because of his size and the size of his accessories. Robo Bebop would have been expensive too but the Gorilla ate that cost. They realized they went a bit crazy with the giants last wave and they're trying to reel it in with this wave.
The turtles always have some sort of thematic pizza slice as an accessory. Because the Punk Frogs like soda, the other punk frogs will probably get some sort of soda accessory in a similar vein to Genghis' grenade belt. Also the grenades are removable.
They spend a bit more time debating the punk frogs, and note that like the robo bebop and robo rocksteady, it's possible they're one of those things that people may usually skip until some anon posts a picture of the complete team and then everyone goes "oh shit that looks cool actually" and try to buy it up after the fact.

>>10002279 >but not sure what they'll do for others.. maybe toon color turtles? and/or the merchandise bright green ones? The four turtles themselves probably won't get recolours. >>10002279 >doesnt make a ton of sense to me but what do I know about business? Basically (using super inaccurate made up numbers)
-You make molds for two toys. Cool toy and niche toy. It costs you 10 dollars to make the mold for each toy.
-Both toys cost 1 buck. They're made to order, so you sell exactly as many as people want. There's not any worry about shortpacking or shelfwarming. You need to sell ten toys each to break even. (Not really accurate but for the sake of simplicity)
-You sell one thousand cool toys and one hundred niche toys. The "return on the investment" for the mold is 100 times more for the cool toy than the niche toy.
-You made a ton of extra money comparatively on the cool toy, so the niche toy being a much lower profit is ok because the cool toy helped to carry it by being so successful. The cool toy made so much money you can say that it "paid" for the niche toy's mold cost.
tldr: the more popular/successful someone else in the wave is (like the gorilla) the bigger the risk they can take with another figure who they don't expect to sell as well.
