Eventually I slowly start lurking though and it's actually not bad, people are strict and say rude things, but nothing like what I heard about, which actually just described /b/ at the time
I could see what anime were popular and it got me into a lot of new shows, pic related one of the first anime I watched thanks to /a/'s influence
From there I extended myself to other boards, like /v/, /ck/, etc
Unfortunately it seems almost all other boards have descended more and more into the /b/ style/ /pol/ style shitposting, so I pretty much stick to just /a/ now
The reverse is that /a/ has gotten a lot stricter as it seems to be the only board that wants to avoid that fate, but that also means there's less funposting around on it, it feels like
