/a/ sucks now anyways. All the people on there are "ironic weebs" who don't even like anime beyond the latest American-pandering meme show that they can post on Twitter about. Try discussing a show that isn't seasonal and watch your thread get ridiculed, ignored, die, or probably deleted.
I'm lucky in that I can discuss most of the anime I watch on /m/, which is a far better board, but most people don't have that luxury and it's pretty depressing to see the hotspot for anime discussion in the west turn into what is essentially a subreddit.
