Since it's a popularity contest, I expect fans of their memes to blow up their voting box and I actually encourage that to happen in popularity polls. When it comes to important votes that aren't popular based, IP checking is enabled so the polls aren't inflated.
Each voter would vote 8 characters, which are counted individually as part of the Straw Poll Total.
Although when you do the math, 229 votes do come to about 28.6 users voting once with a ballot of 8 so the turnout seems to be a little bit bigger than usual.
It's also kind of suspicious that everything was tied, however we are a point where nothing really can rigged for positive or negative if caused by external forces.
If I come home tomorrow and the poll is at 800 total votes then I know someone outside of /vip/ is having a good chuckle, but for no real reason seeing how the most important votes are pretty much over.
