It's hard to make a bad song if you are a musician that knows how to compose and not either trying something really weird/experimental that might not succeed or prone to being obnoxious (see: Fallout Boy, Imagine Dragons, etc).
Also, a lot of my favorite albums work well as a single work rather than single songs. Not that the songs aren't good, but I think some obvious examples like Funeral or Kid A are greater than the sum of their parts.
