You don't have to look far to see article after article of armchair console manufacturers suggesting (and occasionally outright demanding) that Nintendo should scrap the console and make something more likable that's either a generic power machine with Nintendo IPs or something with a gimmick that sucks less than the gamepad.
Eventually Nintendo gave up and took the advice. Now we're left wondering if their new gimmicky hardware will sell enough users to warrant it not being a generic powerbox.
