The Ruger 'Old Army' is a 'modern' cap & ball revolver built on a modified Blackhawk frame, replacing the ejector rod with a loading lever for ramming lead balls into the chambers.
I always thought these were neat as hell for being this odd retro firearm which existed only really for enthusiasts, especially considering that the Blackhawk is based on the Colt 1873, which was designed as a cartridge firing revolver from the ground up, as opposed to older cap & ball revolvers being converted to use cartridges in an attempt to update them. Ruger doesn't make them anymore, which is shame, and it makes them fetch a bit of a premium.
It's quite a strong gun, and can easily handle as much blackpowder as you can fit in the chambers.
