basically in this universe a distant star imploded causing a gravitational disturbance on earth at the time when the DHCP request to your ISP was traveling down the fiberglass, the light got bent causing it to ricochet slightly inside the fiber strands, your ISP had just automatically cleared DHCP reservations so a new customers DHCP request ended up getting there first and receiving your previous IP address and you got assigned a different address.
