/vip/ needs to be converted into a green board, basically a paid /bant/ with the same ruleset. Here is the rationale:
PROS
>keeps the masses out -- drastically increases post quality
>becomes the only board of its kind online (paid+true anon+imageboard+free speech)
>will not replace /pol/ since it has no set topic (like /bant/ and current /vip/)
>majority of users sitting behind VPNs, allowing for total free speech within the bounds of the law for all of those users
>increases 4chan profitability, drastically so if it becomes popular
>spam/fedposts/discord raids/etc no longer viable
CONS
>paid boards run counter to 4chan ethos (however there is a very good argument to be made that the 4chan ethos is outdated and optimized for an internet with different demographic composition)
>(similarly) would suck some quality posters out of /bant/ and /pol/
The trade off seems like it would be 100% worth it, both in terms of what's good for the company and what's good for the people. The only change would be switching /vip/ from blue to green, and the board name if desired.
Bonus idea: Change the VPN IP blocklist to an IP whitelist, so that all users are forced to obfuscate their identity.
