Those misspellings were characteristic of the Polandball comics, which were big at the time, but the John Travolta character from that movie emerged as a meme specific to the Greek crisis, he was the 'denbt collector' and everyone on /int/ basically bullied every Greek poster for about two years.
I don't think they translate very well outside of /int/ unless you're interested in global affairs, news, and politics.
