Currently airing anime and manga that see weekly chapter releases get the most discussion on /a/ by a very wide margin, barring those series that have cancerous generals that never go away (MonMusu, Jojo, Attack on Titan, etc). There's other older series that see frequent discussion that don't have generals (NGE, Monogatari, Fate, Haruhi, Index, etc) but for the most part it's whatever is currently airing/publishing that dominates the board. Basically don't go to /a/ if you don't watch anime or read manga, and if you want discussion for your one favorite title that came out more than 5 years ago you're better of finding discussion for it on reddit than on /a/. You can still try to talk about it on /a/, but I wouldn't advise it if you haven't lurked the board for a long time and understand how things are done there.
