Shilling has been confirmed for quite some time now. Why can't a rule be added so that any off-topic posts can be mass reported to be removed from threads? Not in a "delete all opposition to OP's viewpoint" sort of way but rather, a manner in which OP sets a topic and secondary or even tertiary related topics are allowed. This would allow completely unrelated cookie cutter derailments to be effectively punishable by mods and janitors.
