The site has an unhealthy fixation on how long you've been here even when you barely spend any time here. Also I noticed that certain boards, especially the hobby boards, that doesn't matter near as much as knowing the memes and fitting into the culture. That said a fag can probably go to /r/4chan and encyclopedia dramatica and fit in to a certain level.

There's always going to be posers in every hobby. They want to fit in but lack the knowledge of the subject so they fake it until they make it. My approach is usually to learn about the subject I'm interested in until I feel comfortable talking about it and then try to have a conversation about it. Even with that you're going to have knowledge gaps and come across as green until you have spent a significant amount of time with the hobby. The problem is the fucks that don't even try. They just think talking about a subject is cool and they want to be cool so they go into it with low effort and fake it. It's the lazy way to try to earn brownie points without actually doing anything.

It's quite a bargain. I waited until October 1 to get mine so it was five bucks off. Still even with twenty a year that's $1.66 a month or the equivalent of six cigarettes of my favorite brand and I smoke a pack a day. Basically I get a year's worth of no captchas for four days of smokes.
