>>53388But after a few months the America-pandering shows stopped being made because they didn't make any money. I myself think the final straw for the normalfags was the failure of Kiznaiver, which was being hyped up as the next big thing but wasn't watched by many and was liked by even less. Normals realized that, hey, they didn't really like this whole anime thing anyways, they just wanted goofy meme cartoons that weren't being made, and so they stopped watching and left the board. And that's where /a/ is today.
But now the memes aren't funny anymore and the people who's job it was to create entertaining OC are long gone. Most of the newfags left, too, leaving only the scraps of their shitty, inexperienced taste with them. The trademark old-board elitism is gone, too - telling someone to go watch Boku no Pico when they post a rec thread is now a bannable offence depending on which mod happens to see it.
The only people left are those who didn't get the memo that everyone had moved on to something else, constantly regurgitating the same 2-year-old memes and circlejerking over shows that the industry didn't give a shit about. Liking anything other than Trigger or Jojo instantly labels you a weaboo, and a nu/a/non will gladly tell you that he is not only a crossboarder, but a frequenter of Reddit and Tumblr as well. But no one cares. Moderation is still hilariously awful, as seen with the recent handling of the Trigger employee trying to post. But, still, no one cares. There's no one left to.
So that's it. The seed from which Yggsdrasil sprung has rotted away. Anime discussion on the english-speaking internet has gone extinct. It's over. It was nice while it lasted.
