Pokemon draws references to the real world all the time. Some of those you might get, some you won't. It might even be a bad design choice in the way they incorporate those references, but they're still there because of that.
They didn't just add literal Hanson's hair to Dugtrio just because it looked funny.

Pretty sure that’s still not true. The only magical move that’s Fairy is Dazzling Gleam which is Magical Shine in Japanese. Everything else is Psychic and some magical Psychic moves don’t even fall under those categories. I think they just overlap.

By Hocus Pocus I assume that anon meant mischievous fey magic and nature magic. Most of the moves you list can be considered psychic reality warping, especially the ones that involve teleporting or stat manipulation.

I wouldn’t argue either of those are straight-up magic.

Technically all types are "magic". Even Normal has shit like Hidden Power and Hyper Beam.

I would say Psychic and Fairy are the most associated with traditional magic though.

Not really. A lot of types have magical elements to them. The thing that specifically sets Fairy types apart from the rest of the group is that they seem to be more druid-esque in the way they use magic. They don't produce elements, but they control them. Like, Fairy Wind is fairy despite most wind-based moves being flying. And how there's tons of flower based things that are Fairy rather than Grass because they're using the power of the flowers rather than growing/being flowers themselves.
By contrast here, Psychic types are most often about the power of the self, drawing energy from the mind or emotions, as the new Ponyta does. I still wouldn't be surprised if G-Rapidash wound up being Psychic/Fairy, but I don't see a problem with the regular one being Psychic over Fairy since the point of it is that it's an empath rather than some kind of nature spirit.

They should go back and redo every pokemons type as badly as they are with fairys. Squirtle should be fairy/water now as a maybe sort of reference to a Kappa. Magnemite can be changed to water/steel because water conducts electricity. Hitmonlee can be flying type because it can jump high. Wailord can be pure steel because its really big and heavy like steel. Aegislash can be fire/rock because swords needed to be smelted in a hot temperature and King Arthur pulled a sword out of a rock. Who needs a consistent typing scheme when you can be retarded instead.
